Nanette Neumann Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Aug. 18 to Aug. 20, 2010.
Nanette Marie Neumann Nanette passed away peacefully at home Monday August 16, 2010, in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Colin Taylor; daughter, Vangie and son-in-law, Reg Cooper, and her grandchildren, Jace and Macy of Saskatoon; step-son, Greg Taylor (Tegan Schmidt) of Winnipeg; her parents, Gerhardt and Bernice Neumann of Nipawin; sister, Brenda Foster (Glen) of Winnipeg; brother, Ger Neumann (Pam) of Nipawin; sister, Rachel Mykytyzyn (Dale) of Saskatoon; sister-in-law, Brenda Wilson (Wick) of Victoria; brother-in-law, Ian Taylor (Sonja) of Penticton; and numerous nieces and nephews. Nanette was predeceased by her grandparents, William and Merle Niebergall, and John and Elsie Neumann; father and mother-in-law, James and Myrtle Taylor. Nanette was born July 24th, 1960 in Regina, SK. The family moved to Hudson Bay, Nipawin, Saskatoon, and Quesnel, BC, and returned to Nipawin where she completed high school. She began her accounting career working with her father at Armstrong and Neumann in Nipawin. In 1981, she and her young daughter moved to Saskatoon where she continued her studies and convocated with her CGA in 1986. In 1991, she founded EPR Saskatoon and established herself as a successful and wellrespected professional in the business community. In 1997 she was honoured by CGA Canada with Fellowship status. Her husband Colin joined her practice in 1999 becoming a partner in 2002. Nanette retired in 2007. Nanette was a founding and longtime member of the Saskatoon Women's Network, as well as many other business, service and professional organizations, also serving on the board of SAKs (Student and Kids Centre). In 1978, Nanette was joined in her journey through life by her daughter Vangie. Nanette was a loving mother and had the joy of watching Vangie grow into a beautiful young woman and see her begin her own family with Reg. In 1997 Nanette and Colin were married in Saskatoon, surrounded by their families. Nanette was a voracious reader and collector of books. She enjoyed her garden, crosswords, Canasta games, and her `ladies', Lili, Daisy and Sadie. She drew strength from many life long friends and most recently enjoyed the company and support from her TNT group. She loved to entertain family and friends, and especially to spend precious time with her grandchildren. Nanette was a woman of contrasts. She had a heart of gold, with a will of iron. She had a sharp mind for business but saw the world through a poet's eyes. She is much loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, donations in Nanette's memory can be made to the SPCA, Ronald McDonald House or a charity of your choice. A Memorial Service for Nanette will be held on Saturday, August 21, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. from the Saskatoon Funeral Home. Interment to follow at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to SASKATOON FUNERAL HOME. 306-244-5577.

My deepest sympathies to all of the family. She was my schoolmate in gr 2 in Nipawin and then again in high school. I knew the family and am so sad to hear of her passing. May you find strength in knowing her goodness.

When you've known someone for 25 years and suddenly they are gone, it's hard, really hard. It feels like we'd just started to get to know Nanette again- retired Nanette, with time to reconnect with friends, time to listen, time to laugh. We didn't get enough time with this wonderful mature Nanette and she was gone. We'll miss her and we'll remember the joys she brought to us. We won't forget her kindness, her quiet dignity and her love for us, for her family and for her ladies. Every time WE meet, she'll be there in spirit, supporting us from a special place.

Colin, I, too, am deeply saddened by Nanette's passing. She did, indeed, see life through a poet's eyes. I'll truly miss her observations of life, this world, and the creatures we share it with. May the gift of sweet memory help you through this difficult time, and bring you joy and warmth in the years to come, knowing that Nanette was a reflection of love and kindness. The world is a better place because of her presence!

It is with deep sadness that I am sending this message. Nanette was a mentor to me. I worked for Nanette for approximately 5 years and she was my inspiration in starting my own public practice. When I was discouraged or felt overwhelmed when I was taking my CGA classes, I always thought of Nanette and her accomplishments and that gave me the will to keep going. I will never be the outstanding accountant that she was but I am a better accountant because of her training. She also introduced me to the Saskatoon Women's Network, an organization that I am still very involved in. I never took the opportunity to tell her how much I admired her as a person and as an accountant and that is my regret. My heart goes out to Colin, Vangie and family. Keep the happy memories close to your hearts.

Colin, Vangie & family, we send our very deepest condolences to you all! Nanette has been a very good friend of mine for 28 years when we met to work together to build the Saskatoon Women's Network in 1982! We shared many years as single mothers with daughters, laughing and crying together as we shared our life experiences. I enjoyed watching both Nanette and Vangie grow and prosper in life to become two beautiful ladies! Colin, Jace and Macy were the icing on Nanette's cake!! We know that Nanette is now peacefully in heaven watching over us all!
