Michael Hayes Branon Sept. 18, 1953 - Jan. 7, 2015 LAMESA-Funeral services for Michael Hayes Branon, 61, of Lamesa will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday Jan. 12, 2015, at First United Methodist Church in Lamesa with Larry Allison officiating. Interment will follow in Lamesa Memorial Park under the direction of Branon Funeral Home, Nalley-Pickle-Welch Funeral Home, and Horizon Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015, from 3 to 4 p.m. at Branon Funeral Home. Mike passed away peacefully at his home in Lamesa on Wednesday January 7, 2015. He was born on Sept. 18, 1953, in Lamesa to Tom and Nancy (Walker) Branon. Mike married Patti Rea Heald on Dec. 28, 1975, in Lamesa. She preceded him in death on March 21, 2011. They were married for 36 years. He graduated from Lamesa High School in 1972. Mike graduated from the Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science and owned and operated Branon Funeral Home. He previously served as President of the Dawson County Museum and on the Administrative Board at First United Methodist Church in Lamesa. He served on the Board of Directors of Funeral Director's Life Insurance Company in Abilene since 1989 and held a seat as a member of the Executive Committee. Mike was a huge Dallas Cowboys fan as well as a Texas Rangers Fan. He was an Eagle Scout and enjoyed all outdoor activities. Mike adored his grandchildren and loved attending their extracurricular activities. He is survived by two daughters, Shelley Angeley and husband, Ronnie, Leslie Montz and husband, Richard, all of Lamesa; grandchildren, Madelyn Garcia, Kennon Angeley, and Charley Jayne Angeley, all of Lamesa; brother, Tommy Branon of Midland; sister, Sarah Branon Yancey of San Angelo; brother-in-law, Layne Heald of Lamesa; sister-in-law, Teresa Branon of San Angelo; and many nieces, nephews, and friends that he considered family. Mike is also preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Jeff Branon. The family suggests memorials to First United Methodist Church Building Fund or to a charity of your choice.
