GROVER, Mr. Nathaniel Brooks "Sam"-age 64, of Flint, passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at his residence. Funeral services will held 11:00am Wednesday, January 11, 2023 with a 10:30am family hour at Sheldon T. Banks Funeral Chapel, 3021 S. Dort Hwy., Flint, MI 48507. Pastor Janard Lakes officiating. Calling hours are 1:00pm - 6:00pm Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at Sheldon T. Banks Funeral Chapel. The final resting place for Mr. Grover will be Gracelawn Cemetery, Flint, MI.
Mr. Nathaniel Brooks Grover "Sam" was born February 8, 1958 in Flint, Michigan the son of Tiff and Fannie Mae Grover.
"Sam" as he was known to most was a long time resident of Flint, Michigan. He attended Flint Community Schools and was a graduate of Flint Northern High School. At a young age Nathaniel participated in Golden Gloves Boxing. He was employed with GCCARD Meals on Wheels as well as being a self-employed skilled carpenter. Nathaniel was a comedian at heart and he loved spending time with family and friends while making them laugh. "Sam" was a magnet helping people young and old. His home was an open door to everyone. He loved animals especially his dogs.
Mr. Nathaniel Brooks Grover "Sam" leaves to cherish his memory: son, Nathaniel Grover, Jr. of Flint, MI; daughter, NaShonda Stubbs of Flint, MI; grandchildren, Brittany Howell, Na'Cari and Brooke Grover; brother, Ronald Grover of Flint, MI; sisters, Connie (Charles) Edwards of Flint, MI, Eleanor Wicker of Westland, MI, Kim Scott and Tracy "Ricky" Spottsville both of Flint, MI; nephews, Donte' Wicker and Christopher Perkins; a host of nieces including special nieces, Raquel and Heavenly Scott, Tammy Leitzsey, Monica Hamilton and Rhonda Green; numerous great nieces, great-nephews and cousins; a host of other relatives and friends including companion, Debra Stubbs; extended family, Gibraun Hopson, Demarcus Wilson and Zachary Baskin; a host of friends that loved him including special friends, Charles Thomas, Theotis Jr. Hatcher, Montez Hunter, Eddie "Bo" Williams and Gary Hardnett.
Mr. Nathaniel Grover "Sam" was preceded in death by: his 2 sons, Terrance Stubbs and Dakarai Grover; daughter, baby Grover; grandson, Alerio Wilson; parents, Tiff and Fannie Mae Grover; sisters, Delores "Steve" Germani; step-sister, Stephanie Tremmell; nieces, Shantel and Angel; nephews, Gino and Andre.
The family would like to express special thanks to: Hurley Medical Center CCU and ER staff, Dr. Danish, Dr. Arif, CCU nurses Jason and Corey, staff of Medical Team Hospice, special thanks to sisters Tracy Spottsville, Debra Stubbs and Eleanor Wicker who provided time and loving care.
