Nathaniel Lee, Sr., of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on February 10, 2009 at home. Born in Tuscaloosa, AL, February 28, 1924, a son of the late Napolean Lee and Lillie Belle (Mills), he was known to his friends as “Sambo”.Nathaniel graduated from Druid High School and Stillman College in Alabama with an Associate’s Degree. He was married to the late Jane Lee (Calmese) and moved to Niagara Falls, NY in 1950. Nathaniel was employed at the local factory as a lab tech. He later changed careers and scored the highest in the Civil Service and became a Postal Clerk, and worked his way to be a Sub-Post Master before retiring in 1983.He was a hard-working, fun-loving person, an advent bowler as well as a unique handyman. He also loved to watch football and Cowboy movies. Nathaniel attended Berea Cogic under the leadership of his son, Nathaniel Lee, Jr. He leaves to cherish his memories, his brother, Dr. Rev. Thomas Lee; his son, Nathaniel Lee, Jr. and three daughters, Wanda McCreary of Niagara Falls, NY, Danielle Lee of Dallas, TX and Terri Lee of Buffalo, NY; as well as a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Jane Lee and four sons, Silas, Vincent, Reginald and Gerald Lee. He was a great man, father and husband and will be deeply missed. Services at United Memorial Funeral Home, 3272 Bailey Ave., Buffalo, will be held on Tuesday, with the wake from 11 AM to 12 noon and funeral service to follow at noon.
