Nazareno Mamone Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 8, 2023.
With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Nazareno Mamone on April 3, 2023, in his 85th year. Beloved husband of Antonietta for 63 years. Devoted father of Cecilia (Lino) DelConte, Antonietta (Angelo) Angelopoulos, Patricia (Mario) Giannotti and Nancy (Bruno) Centritto. Loved and adored by his grandchildren Andrew, Andrea (Iain), Victoria (Marco), Alyssa, Corrina, Christian and Gabriel (Victoria). Waiting for him in heaven are his parents Giovanni and Antonietta Mamone, father-in-law and mother-in-law Antonio and Cecilia Mamone, and granddaughter Catherine. Much loved brother and brother-in-law of Antonio and Rosina Mamone, Rosina and Salvatore Cirillo, Joseph and Marjorie Mamone, Ralph and Linda Mamone, Domenic and Nicole Mamone and Connie Mamone. Dearest brother-in-law to John and Maria
Mamone, Rose and Dave Reynard, Vince and Antonette Mamone, and Cathy Mamone and Perry Buston. Predeceased by family members Antonietta and Raffaele Albanese, Maria Carmela and Francesco Primerano, Faustina and Bruno Tassone, Luigi Mamone, Francesco Mamone and Dino Mamone. He will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews and cousins in Canada, USA and Italy.
In 1956, Nazareno arrived in Canada from Fabrizia, Calabria, Italy, to start a new beginning. He worked for nearly four decades at Wm. Groves Ltd., where he was affectionately known as 'Naz' or 'Mony', but it was the given title of 'underground engineer' that gained him the utmost respect from his co-workers and friends. Nazareno was a proud member of LIUNA Local 837 for over 50 years. He loved birds, nature and in the spring and summer months, Nazareno enjoyed many of his favourite pastimes with his family; picnics at Valens Park, fishing up north with his brothers and growing amazing vegetables in his award-winning garden. 'Naz' was the 'MacGyver' of gardening. He could graft 5 varieties of apples on one tree, and grew massive tasty tomatoes to be enjoyed by all. Nazareno was grateful for his amazing neighbours Carmen and Bruna, and Ljubica for their friendship and help over the years. Special thanks to the many doctors, nurses and staff of ICU 4 BD and CTU 4 BD at St. Joseph's Hospital and Ash his pharmacist.

God saw you getting tired,
And a cure was not to be,
So he put His arms around you,
And whispered "Come to me." (author unknown)
Dad, you are our role model, our light, our hero.

Sempre nei nostri cuori.

May you rest in our Lord's garden until we meet again.
