Neal Edward Simon, of Richland Twp. and formerly of Stroudsburg, PA, passed away Monday, October 24, 2022, at St. Luke’s Hospital Upper Bucks Campus, Milford Twp., PA. He was 68.
He was the loving husband of Eileen Keyburn. The couple had celebrated their second wedding anniversary on November 30, 2021.
Raised in Pelham, NY, he was the son of the late Mary Louise (Mickey) and William A. Simon, Jr., his personal hero. A 1972 graduate of Pelham Memorial High School, he attended Penn State University, Hazleton, PA, and Roger Williams University, Bristol, RI. He lived in New York, NY, and Eastern Pennsylvania, living out his final years happily with his wife and pets in Quakertown.
Neal worked as a sound engineer for over 45 years, including employment with Sigma Sound Studios and WKTU as well as other companies over the years, and enjoyed working with famous musicians throughout his career. Having worked at the Twin Towers at the time of 9/11, he proudly volunteered working at the site in honor of the friends he lost there and those who survived.
Having a passion for music and radio, he played drums and keyboard with a band in his early years. An avid New York Mets Baseball fan and boat enthusiast, he enjoyed home remodeling and tinkering with everything to study how things worked. He also loved animals and rescued several. He loved to eat savories (such as gravy—so much of it!) but he had a sweet tooth, especially for cheesecake. And his favorite fruit was cherries, for they reminded him of the beginning of summer, of freedom. Neal will be remembered for his social and jokester nature, for his commitment to family and sobriety, but, most of all, for his love for his family.
Surviving with his wife, Neal is also survived by two children, Sarah and Nicholas Simon, both of New York City, NY; his brother, William “Bill” Simon III and his wife Lavinia Mancuso, of New York City; his sister, Louise Simon, of New York City; his nephew, William A. "Alex" Simon IV; and his first wife, Barbara Heaney, of New York City. He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, John J. Rodriguez.
His Celebration of Life Services will be held on Sunday December 4, 2022 from 1:00 -5:00 p.m. at McCoole's Arts & Events Space, 10 S Main St, Quakertown, PA 1895.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Bucks County SPCA, 60 Reservoir Road, Quakertown, PA 18951 or Save The Music at www.savethemusic.org
Arrangements are by the Suess-Gahman Funeral Home, 606 Arch Street, Perkasie, PA.

Saying goodbye to someone you care about is never easy. When we met 25 years ago you became my boss at KTU in a profession we both loved. But you never adhered to the typical role of boss. You quickly became my mentor, and I your student. As the years passed our friendship grew into a brotherhood and in my heart that is how you will remain. They say GOD calls his Angels back to serve in Heaven, and since there have been so many famous amazing musicians who have gone before you in recent years, it only makes sense that he needed a Great Sound Engineer to mix “Heaven’s Greatest Hits!” YOU got the Gig Brother! Watch your “Phase Shift” and Save me a seat at the console. Rest Peacefully Neal. One Love. ~ Joe Effect
