Appleton - Ned "Nedly " Montanye, AKA "The Big Cheese" passed away peacefully in his sleep. He was a pillar of the community, having owned and operated Butch's Pizza of Kimberly for 45 years after a few years of touring with the carnival.

He was a Father figure for many, and was always there to lend assistance for those around him in need.

In his free time he was very active in the Kimberly Recreation Association, particularly in organizing softball tournaments; he also was an avid volunteer for the local chapter of Ducks Unlimited. He loved to fish and hunt with his buddies and nephew Nick.

Ned had the gift of gab, and in retirement loved tending bar and helping out around the grounds for his adopted family the Osieckis' at Mapleview Resort in Conover.

He is survived by his wife Nancy (Michalkiewicz) Montanye, his daughter Mandy Montanye (Siegel), his niece/ Goddaughter Michelle Montanye (Ver Haagh), brother Keith "Mizer" Montanye, nephews Ronny Verhagen, Nick Michalkiewicz, Andrew "Chewy" Verhagen, many other nieces and nephews, and sisters- in law Michelle Verhagen Dufrane and Tammy Michalkiewicz. As well as many other extended family members and former Butch's Pizza employees.

Memorial/ celebration of life will be held at Tanner's Bar and Grill 730 S Railroad St Kimberly, WI at 2pm on October 25, 2025. Attendees are welcome to share their favorite Nedly stories.

I am so saddened by this loss to the world, Ned changed my life simply by being himself. The Butch's Family means so much to me, and so many more.... My heart goes out to so many who will miss this man. I need a Jumbo Butch's Special

I was a wet behind the ear 15 year old that knew nothing until I met Ned. He taught me just about everything there was to know about how to cook a pizza in those god awful hot pizza ovens! Thank you from the bottom of my heart Ned! Condolences to ALL of Ned´s family!

My sincere sympathy to Ned's family and friends. He was a great man, took me under his wings when I was a teenager, hired me to work at Butch's and instilled a great work ethic in me. I worked for him for many years and always felt appreciated by him. A wonderful man who made a difference in so many people's lives....rest easy my friend until we meet again.

When we were kids our parents rented farmhouses. I will be forever grateful to my big brother for teaching me how to hunt squirrels and rabbits and to shoot only what you were going to eat. He taught me to have patience by taking us fishing. He taught me how to be a good man. It took me a lifetime to learn that lesson, but that's what a brother and a friend does. I miss him. R.I.P. my brother. My friend.
