Neil Sandberg

1925 - 2018 Dr. Neil C. Sandberg, a pioneer in intercommunity affairs and coalition building, served as the Western Region Director for the American Jewish Committee (AJC) for three decades and was the founding director of AJC's Asia Pacific Institute in 1989. Dr. Sandberg was the longest serving director of the Martin Gang Institute for Intergroup Relations, a shared venture of AJC Los Angeles and Loyola Marymount University. He served from 1968 to 2008, and was honored by the Institute in 2013 for his leadership in promoting mutual understanding between religious and ethnic communities. He was an adjunct professor in sociology at LMU. Dr. Sandberg is survived by his wife Mary, son Curtis (Silvia), and grandson Emil. May his memory be for a blessing.
