I just wanted to let the family know how deeply sorry I am for your loss of Mr. Clegg.
I worked for him during the 70's as his secretary while he owned the CPA firm of Neill McKeithan Clegg, CPA. There are many fond memories of my times working for Mr. Clegg. He was a kind and gentle man with a keen sense of humor who never seemed to stop making all of us laugh. The clients we served relied upon him heavily yet he took the time to make each one feel they were the only client he had.
Fondly I tell of the times he narrowly missed catching the office on fire, once by throwing the trash can out the window from the 4th story building we worked in, and another close call in which he ran through the office with the blazing trash can to snuff the fire out with the large paper cutter by setting it up-side-down on top of the fire.
Mr. Clegg knew how to put humor even in Accounting!
I do appreciate the help and support he gave me during a time in my life when I needed someone patient and willing to answer questions about work and the Accounting courses I was taking at night while working for him. Much of what I learned working for Mr. Clegg, I continued to use in subsequent jobs and the business my husband and I have owned for 25 years now.
He spoke frequently and endearingly of Mrs. Clegg and his children. He was a good man whose integrity, ability and understanding has made an impact on those who knew him. He will be missed but continue to live on in all our hearts. May God hold you close as you mourn the loss of your husband and father.
Sincerely,
Delores Mitchell
