Nell Carney Wallace       Services for Nell Carney Wallace will be held today at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, with Dr. Rhett Payne officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Wallace of Meridian, died Thursday, Sept. 25, 2008, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. She will always be remembered as a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend whose family was the most important thing in the world to her. “Mamaw” enjoyed cooking Sunday lunch for her family for more than 50 years. Every Sunday, casseroles, salads, desserts, and fellowship were enjoyed by all. Mrs. Wallace was a long time patron of the Meridian Little Theater and Meridian Museum of Art. Survivors include her daughter, Cheryl Shannon and her husband, Stanley, of Whynot; a son, A.M. “Bubber” Wallace III of Meridian; four grandchildren, Wallace Dearing and his wife, Kristi, and Carney Dearing and his wife, Heather, all of Whynot, Michelle Smith and her husband, Buck, of Madison, and Cara Nell Waite and her husband, Richard, of Bay St. Louis; Cara and Michelle’s mother, Karen Stockton Wallace; 10 great grandchildren Brady and Blake Dearing, Eli and Logan Dearing, Alex, Caroline Grace and Ansley Rose Smith, Layla Waite and Alyssa and Madisyn Breedlove; and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Alden M. Wallace Jr.; her parents, A.P. “Bud” Carney Sr. and Hattie Burwell Carney; two brothers, A. P. “Bubba” Carney Jr. and Ben Carney; and a sister, Carolyn Carney Holland. The family request memorials be made to First Presbyterian Church Building Fund. Visitation will be 30 minutes prior to services at the church. Pallbearers will be Wallace Dearing, Carney Dearing, Temple Carney, Bill Carney, Wayne Adams, Pete Hayes, Buck Smith, Richard Waite and Alex Smith.Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Don Marascalco, Dr. Joe Ford Jacobs, Dr. Robert F. Kiehn and elders and deacons of First Presbyterian Church.
