Nelson Aylesworth Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Aug. 10 to Aug. 11, 2009.

Nelson R. Aylesworth
of Binghamton
The measure of a man is not in his possessions or wealth, but in his day to day life; in the consistent faithful love shown to his family, friends and his Creator. It is measured in his joyful expression of the many talents God gave him; the faithful rendition of his work and in the many lives he touched in giving himself to others, reflecting his Christian faith. Nelson R. Aylesworth, of Binghamton, New York, completed his earthly journey on August 7, 2009. His family honors him and sees his life as having brought glory to God. Nelson is survived by his wife and companion of 70 years, Beaetta Aylesworth; son, Lynn and wife, Allyson Aylesworth; daughter, Diane and husband, John Runion; grandchildren, Eric Runion (wife, Julie), Amanda Space, Andrew Runion (wife, Stacie), and Colin Aylesworth. He also treasured 5 great-grandchildren, Isaiah Space, Jonathan, Catharine, Elizabeth Runion, and William Runion. Following Nelson's graduation from Binghamton High School and Lowell Business School, he was employed by IBM Endicott for 40 years, working as a Purchasing Manager. A talented pianist, Nelson accompanied the IBM Glee Club and numerous gospel groups and soloists.
He was a lifelong member of the Boulevard United Methodist Church, where he served as musician-in-residence, and where a service celebrating his life will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends at the Barber Memorial Home, 428 Main Street, Johnson City, on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. many thanks to those who lovingly cared for Nelson in his illness: neighbors, Tony and Pat; nurse's aides, Vietta, Cindy, Kathy, Maxine, Nora, Louise; friends, Margaret K., Kathy L.; and Lourdes Hospice staff and volunteers. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider contributions in Nelson's memory to Boulevard U.M. Church Memorial Fund, 113 Grand Boulevard, Binghamton, NY 13905; or to Main Street Baptist Church Organ Fund, 117 Main Street, Binghamton, NY 13905

Diane,Lynn,Beaetta: I am sorry for your loss. I know how you feel. Mr. Aylesworth was a fine gentleman, a good father, husband and grandfather. Knowing he is with the Lord surely makes it easier. Being so talented as he was surely was a gift from God. Hes probably playing his music in heaven. He will be missed by all who was close to him. May God grant you peace at this time of sorrow. I said a prayer for you today. God Bless all of you!

I remember when Nelson and a quartet came out to Silver Lake Church to entertain us with their music. It was wonderful. I also heard him play many times at Boulevard. He was a nice man and I will miss seeing him and his wife at Boulevard.
