Mr. Nelson Wade Hollifield

Mr. Nelson "Neil" Wade Hollifield, born on September 16, 1963 in Spruce Pine, North Carolina, to Linda Y. Burcham and Buddy W. Hollifield, passed away at age 55 on November 22, 2018 in Cedar Key, Florida. He attended Mitchell High School where he played football, Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College where he studied Computer Engineering and Mayland Community College where he studied Electronic Data Processing. Neil was married to the late Gloria Rouse Hollifield who passed away on November 23, 2018. He was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Ruth Ledford Hollifield and Mae Hensley Young; grandfathers, Yates T. Hollifield and Hal Young; and aunt, Shirley Hollifield Sparks. Neil is survived by his father and stepmother, Buddy W. and Donna Hollifield of Burnsville, NC; mother and stepfather, Linda Y. and Robert W. Burcham of Fairview, NC; daughter, Michelle Wolfrey and her husband Tommy Wolfrey of Leicester, NC; and daughter, Latonya Pearce of Cedar Key, FL; brother, Joe Burcham and his wife Sharon S. Burcham of Clyde, NC; sister, Sonya Rowland and her husband Keith Rowland of Leicester, NC; sister, Angela McIntosh and her husband Mike McIntosh of Burnsville, NC; and sister, Christina Hollifield of Spruce Pine, NC; grandchildren, Cody Lee Wolfrey, TJ Wolfrey, Jacob Wade Wolfrey, Alexis M. Crum, and Aneilya L. Crum; aunts, Kay Hollifield Oke, Nina Young, and Lorainne Young; uncles, Larry Sparks, Wayne Young, and Harley Eugene Young; nieces, Sophia Rowland, Zoe Burcham, Savannah Hudgins, and Kaitlyn Hollifield; and nephews, Riley Rowland, Zane Burcham, Everett Hudgins, and Bradley Ware; sister in law, Marcia Rouse Fleming and her husband Paul Fleming of Cedar Key, FL with whom Gloria and Neil lived; and sister in law, Nancy Rouse Bond of Madison, FL.
Neil enjoyed hiking and being in nature. He also loved video games, board games and the company of family and friends. He was a fabulous cook and loved to cook holiday dinners. Neil was a loyal friend to all and the best Dad ever. He will be missed by all those who knew him. Friends and family members may attend the memorial service at Roan Mountain, North Carolina in the spring for the releasing of Neil and Gloria's ashes.
