Nicholas D'Agostino 1927-2012 SPRINGFIELD - Nicholas "Nick" D'Agostino, 85, died Thursday, December 20, 2012 in the Country Estates Nursing Home in Agawam. He was born in Youngstown, N.Y. to the late Anthony and Angelina (Finamore) D'Agostino. He was employed for 34 years with Marriott in the maintenance department. Nick was predeceased by his sisters, Helen and Constantine D'Agostino and is survived by his dear friend and caretaker Tina Chandler and her daughter, Chelcy of Agawam. A Funeral Mass will be held for Nick on Monday December 24, 2012 at 9 AM, meeting directly at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church 123 William St. Springfield. Rites of Committal will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Tinkham Rd. Springfield. There are no calling hours. Contributions in Nick's name may be directed to St. Anthony's Parish, 337 N. Warman Ave. Indianapolis, IN or to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 123 William Street. Springfield, MA 01105. Arrangements are under the direction of the Forastiere Funeral Home, 45 Locust St. Springfield, MA 01108.

God Bless you Nicky and may you rest in peace. Of course I'm sure you are running the track in heaven and telling everyone what you use to tell the young ‘spring chickens' around here when they would complain that they are tired or exhausted: -‘you are not tired, get up and go, when you stop, you will die.' I'm honored to have met and worked with such an increditable, inspiring, kind man. I often think about what he used to say when I'm tired and it motivates me to get up and go.

I also worked with Nicky at the Marriott. The man could work circles around men one third his age. He was caring and empathetic. We miss him terribly.

I've had the pleasure of working w/Nicky for many years! He was an amazing man! I enjoyed working w/him. I was even blessed to watch him feeding the birds in the park - I watched them all flock around him as soon as he stepped into the park. I watched in awe! I was even more blessed when he shared stories of his life Italy! He will truly be missed!
