Nick and I have been friends since 7th grade. He was smart, talented and "crazy" fun. High School was a blast with Nick around! We continued our friendship after high school in Austin at the University of Texas. I was blessed to get to visit with him over the years in Asheville and in New York. Nick was great at staying in touch, calling to check on me and other friends, sending cards and pictures of all the amazing places he, Jamie and Jessie visited.
We talked the day before he and Jamie left for Hawaii. He said he was going to his favorite place in the world. He said he´d call me when he got home. Can´t believe you´re gone. Miss you so much.
Rest In Peace Nick.
Love you always....

Nick and I met in 1966, when he moved to Center and began 7th grade. We shortly became friends and have remained so for the rest of his life. Gosh, I loved Nick! He, another friend named John Griffin, and I remained part of each other's lives till the very end. When my wife, Renee, and I began to date our Junior year, my idea of a good time was for her to go with the three of us on our latest adventure. I've described life around Nick in those early years as being a roller coaster; just as you think things are slowing down, here comes another hair-pin curve and a drop-off into the unknown. He was the most amazing, creative, and unpredictable guy I've ever known and I'm so thankful he was there to make life fun!

I met Nick in the early 80´s when he served as a judge for a Christmas talent competition at the Broadway Dinner theater in Westchester County outside of NYC. I was just out of college and it was a wonderful opportunity to meet talented performers and casting directors like Nick who was currently the ABC soap talent director. I´ll never EVER forget meeting him after the performance and the kind words and advice he gave my 24 year old self. He said Mickey I voted for you and your a very talented young man who will work plenty. Keep up your charming demeanor and with that energy you will go far. He was soft spoken and I swooned with his every word. Oh and (ahem) I lost 4 votes to 3

I brag to Jamie that I met Nick wayyyyy before he did!
Love you Nick. Say hi to my Mom and Pop as well as Jamie´s family!

Let's never forget that Nick was a romantic. He proposed to Jamie on bended knee ON TOP OF THE EIFFEL TOWER! Surrounded by tourists! Come on, y'all? We should all take a page from Nick's lovely, joyous life. If you're going to do something do it with flair, love and perfect timing...

My husband and I met Jessie, Nick, and Jamie on a cruise about 13 years ago and we were immediately struck by their joy and love of life. We have so enjoyed meeting up with JNJ a few times since then. Nick was always attentive and wanting to know what we had been up to since the last time we had seen each other. I know he will be missed more than words can describe. RIP, my friend. <3

Oh, Nick. Such a beautiful soul. In her didn't-like-anyone-but-Mom little child phase, my daughter held Nick's hand all day. When I stayed with Nick and Jamie in L.A., Nick put a bowl of gardenia blossoms in my room. My kids talked about our time in LACMA with Nick as our guide for years. Nick and Jamie. A couple who knew how to live, love, and enjoy and support each other in the most beautiful way. See you on the other side, Nick. I miss you. We'll watch out for Jamie for you in the meantime.

The Farmers Market in LA was the perfect place for my dear friend Jamie to introduce me to Nick. The three of us would meet, drink coffee, and talk and laugh for hours. Nick´s kindness and the twinkle in his eye warmed my heart and showed me who he was. Later, the fun would continue with my trips to Asheville. My memories of Nick are running around Asheville, shopping and sightseeing, tidying up the house for more out of town guests, and of course In The Kitchen! I would visit in November. The savory smell of his spiced pecans baking in the oven paired perfectly with the colored leaves piling up in the front yard. Nick´s passion for life showed up in his admiration of the smallest miniature art, to the most glorious sunset. He will be missed!

Tyler Junior College...1973...He was acting in Desire Under the Elms. We met and have been friends ever since. He lived near my Aunt in Ashville. He always loved talking with the students at TJC.

I fondly think of Nick as an artist himself. His miniature creations linger in memory.
