It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Nick D'Angelo on Monday, December 12, 2016. Beloved husband of Aynsley (Pominville). Loving father of Amelia and Bailey. Dear son of Angelo and Carmela (Perseo). Special brother of Rosanna (Florestano Conti), dear uncle of Joseph Conti (Melanie). Brother-in-law of Carole Anne Pominville and son-in-law of Glenn and Edith Pominville. Nick will be missed by his many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends both here in Canada and in Italy. He enjoyed fishing and spending time at the cottage and was very involved in the Goulbourn Soccer club. A special thank you to the doctors and nurses at the Civic Campus ICU for their care and compassion. Friends are invited to visit at the Pinecrest Remembrance Centre, 2500 Baseline Road, Ottawa on Monday, December 19 from 11:30 a.m. until the time of a Funeral Service at 2 p.m. in the Pinecrest Chapel. A reception will follow. Nick's last gift to the world was to be an organ donor. Thanks to him several lives have been changed. You too can be an organ donor. It is with great sadness that I learned of Nick's passing.I cannot begin to imagine your sorrow and would like to extend my sincere condolences to you and your family.My first encounter with him was in the very beginning of my business when we met at a Goulbourn business meeting.He stood out by being his friendly attractive self when he introduced himself to our table.The ensuing lively conversations peppered with much laughter lightened the formality of the event and brought much fun.I will remember him fondly .Dorit Fischler Almonte.

Our deepest condolences to Aynsley, Amelia and Bailey and family of Nick. It is such shocking and tragic news. Nick will always have a special place in our hearts. He was such a fun and considerate cottage neighbor who always looked out for our boys as well. When we weren't there and our boys were, we could always count on Nick to keep an extra eye out (provide a tow, if someone's canoe tipped). Boys being boys, could help themselves to Nick's woodshed when the fire was running low and no cut wood to be found. We will miss the dropins and the familiar aroma of Nick's cigar and most of all, the presence of a well loved neighbor standing on his dock fishing. RIP Nick

I met Nick maybe some three months ago at The Glen. We chatted about the things we enjoy doing, in my case, my European travels on a motorcycle. Nick couldn't believe it that I knew where Pescara was and he went on and on about that with a smile every time we sat at a table together. Of course I know where Pescara is, I told him. I have a friend from the area (Torre De' Passeri). I think Nick told me he was from Pretoro. Nick, although we only knew each other for such a short time, you'll be missed.

I don't know if Nick ever told you how we first met? But it went way back to the days of the Ottawa Rough Riders when your Dad (before kids)went to the games with his cousin. Nick always kept us entertained with his clowning around and persistence to join his game day football pool. Many years later as Fathers we would meet again coaching our girls together at Goulbourn soccer. His love of the sport and sharing that love with everyone. Good times! Nick would always have a big smile and a kind word for me when I would see him at our local gathering place. He sent me a text at the end of November saying he missed seeing me around as I had not dropped in for awhile. What a thoughtful act/gesture to someone he didn't really know all that well. Then a couple weeks ago I was in and at the other side of the room and there was Nick with a big wave and a smile. He will be truly missed. My condolences and sympathies to the family. Couldn't believe the news when I heard. Always thought Nick had nine lives, and even as he burned through one or two, he always seemed to feel the same way.
