Nicole Patricia Keating, "Nikki" to her friends and family and "Cole" to her husband, 48, of Hollywood, Florida passed away on Thursday, December 23, 2021, peacefully in her sleep after a long battle with cancer.
Nicole Patricia Carroll was born on September 03, 1973, to Barbara Olney and Joseph Carroll in Atlanta, Georgia. Nicole grew up on Pensacola Beach. She attended Episcopal Day School (EDS). After Nicole graduated from Tate High School of Pensacola in 1991, she went on to study Theatre Arts at Auburn University.
After graduation, she spent a year working 3 theatre jobs at once before she started her first major job at Florida Stage as a Marketing Associate, kickstarting a 26-year career in Theatre. Nicole’s next working adventure was as the Regional Sales Operating Manager for the Southeast at Broadway Across America before being recruited by the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami in 2007 as their Senior Director of Ticketing Services and was soon promoted to Assistant Vice President of Business Intelligence. She was NOT the person you wanted to ask for free tickets! Scalpers and Tickets Brokers beware! Nicole was one of the founding members of the Florida Access Coalition for the Arts and was named by Tessitura one of 10 Women of Note in the industry in 2014.
In 1997, Nicole met John-David Keating in an AOL Chatroom “Redheads”. The two had a pen-pal relationship that continued for one year before they finally met face to face. Nicole and John-David dated for another year before Nicole (ever the confident woman) proposed marriage. John-David (never the fool) accepted her proposal, and they were married September 30, 2000, at Christ Church in Pensacola.
Nicole was a life-long member of the Police and Sting Fan-club! On Valentine’s Day 2019 John-David took Nicole to Toronto to see Sting starring in the farewell tour of his musical The Last Ship. After the musical ended, and just by chance, they caught Sting exiting through the Stage Door where he autographed the musical’s CD for Nicole and asked, “Haven’t I seen you before?” Nicole responded, “Many times because I always know where to find the best seats in the house whenever you are in town!” (True Story)
Nicole and her husband happily endured the pandemic’s isolation, spending every moment together either working, cooking, laughing or mixing cocktails and sometimes all at once. She is survived by her mother, Bobbye Olney Carroll; her husband John-David Keating; cats Finn and Haddie; Aunt Trisha Olney Bothwell, and loving friends and family too numerous to name. She will be missed especially for her laugh, her beautiful smile, and her singing voice.
A service to honor Nicole’s life will be held at 1:00pm on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at Christ Episcopal Church, 18 W. Wright St., Pensacola, FL., with Rev. Dr. Michael Hoffman, officiating. A committal service will follow at St. John’s Cemetery.

I met Nicole at St. John's, but I did not get to know her until we started meeting regularly as part of a church group. It was there I realized what a truly loving person she was. She was so many things; smart, kind, generous, talented and faithful. But what really shined through was how much she cared about everyone in her life. She was truly inspirational.

Nikki — Such a beautiful soul and the Best of Us. I was so fortunate to have her in my life, though the time was much too short. She touched so many lives, both personally and professionally, and inspired untold people. My heart is broken at the passing of our precious La Noo.
