Nicole Krieger, 34, died peacefully at her home on April 4, 2013 after a long battle with brain cancer.
Nikki was born on July 5, 1978. As a young child she moved to Las Vegas and in 1996 she graduated from Chaparral High School. She attended UNLV where she completed her Bachelor’s degree in 2004 and a Master’s degree in Social Work in 2005.
During her graduate program Nikki met Louis Krieger, also a student in the social work program and they were married in 2007. Nikki was employed as a social worker at the Clark County Public Defender’s office where she worked with children. She was a committed advocate for her clients and she was loved and admired by her colleagues. She was an inspiration to everyone who knew her.
Nikki loved to travel and enjoyed the outdoors. She and Louis went on many trips together. They began their marriage with a honeymoon cruise to Mexico and they also traveled to Croatia, Germany and Alaska. Last August they took a much-anticipated trip to Ireland where they spent several weeks exploring villages and pubs and the beauty of that country. They frequently camped in the mountains and the deserts of Nevada, Utah, Arizona and California.
Above all, Nikki loved her family and was an animated addition to every family gathering, at traditional holiday events or evenings of karaoke. Nikki was an avid Aerosmith fan, adoring rock, 80s and country music. She was funny, kind, thoughtful and loving. She was also strong and fearless as she battled cancer. She was always optimistic and loved life. Everyone who knew Nikki was made richer by her presence and the light she carried in her spirit.
The graveside memorial service will be held on Friday April 12, 2013 at 2:00 pm, at Palm Eastern Cemetery (7600 S. Eastern Avenue). Immediately following the memorial service, please help us celebrate Nikki’s life by joining us in the private banquet room at Nikki’s favorite pub, McMullan’s Irish Pub (4650 W. Tropicana).
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation: http://www.nvccf.org/donate.cfm
