Nina Ebb Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 10, 2016.
My brother John Ebb and I want to thank all of our friends and family for their thoughts and prayers. Our mother, Nina Zdenka Goldscheider Ebb, passed away last night at the age of 92.

The only way you can describe our mother was that she was a survivor. She was born in Plzen, Czechoslovakia, to Alfred and Emma Wolfner Goldscheider. At the age of 18, her whole family was put in Terezin, a concentration camp in Czechoslovakia. She spent 4 long years there and only her Mother Emma and she survived. After the war, their great aunt, Helen Frankenfeld, sponsored them to come to the United States.

A few years later, my mother met my father, Stanley Ebb, from Boston and the rest is history. They married, settled in Newton and had two children, Alaine and John. Nina worked at Newton High in the language lab, which she loved. She and Stanley later moved to Stratford, Connecticut, where she lived until after the death of her husband in 2001. She soon moved to Ithaca, NY to be closer to her daughter. She lived in Longview and for the past couple of years Bridges of Cornell Heights.

She struggled with the horrible disease of Alzheimers for almost 10 years, so when we say she was a survivor in every way, we mean it.

She is survived by her daughter, Alaine (David) Troisi and son, John (Evilee) Ebb. Their children, Gregg (Leigh-Ann) Hoornbeck, Scott (Lisa) Hoornbeck, Andrew Troisi, Shari (Josh) Ryan, Lori (Phil) McGeown and their children: Gregory and Rylee Hoornbeck, Brayden and Bryce Ryan, and Ava McGeown.

She will be buried in Sharon Memorial this week.

Dear Ebb Family:

I had the privilege of first meeting Nina when I starting working at Longview over 10 years ago. She was such a lovely woman and we enjoyed her immensely! She will be missed.

When we moved to Oronoque in 1982 our neighbors Stan & Nina took us under their wings and welcomed us into their family. They shared in our mitzvah's and Stan always was our director in any household project. We thought of them as extended family and adored them both. We speak of Stanley often in Oronoque and will remember Nina with great fondness. Our love and hugs go out to Alaine and John and all the family.
All our love, Nan & Burt

Nina is a wonderful woman. She has a zest for life and had to have a sense of humor with my brother marrying into the family! Nina endured her illness with strength, dignity and grace. We wish her a joyous homecoming in heaven! Our prayers are with your family and blessings always. Nina lives on in all of you. the Tarneys
