Norma T. Dominy, aged 92, passed away on September 7, 2015. She is the beloved mother of William “Robin” Dominy, Phyllis Callaman, Leslie Dominy, and the late Russell “Rusty” Dominy, loving grandmother of Justin, Brooke and Courtney Callaman, and dear great-grandmother of Kylah Shouse. She is survived by brother, Philip Talbott and wife Judy.
Norma was born in Saranac Lake, New York and was raised in Washington, D.C. She attended Garfield Nursing School where she earned her R.N. license. As a Charter Member, she helped to establish Christ Lutheran Church in 1953 in Fairfax, Virginia. Her nursing career spanned over 40 years as an OB nurse running the delivery room at The Washington Hospital Center, then a private OB/GYN practice for many years and finishing her career in hospital administration as Director of Central Supply. She also served as President of the National Central Supply Association for many years. She was a 25 year survivor of breast cancer and after retiring, she relocated to Homestead, Florida for a period of almost 20 years before returning home to Virginia to be with her children.
A funeral service will be held to celebrate Norma’s life on Monday, September 14, 2015 at 1:00 p.m., at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Fairfax, Virginia. Interment is immediately following at Fairfax Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Humane Society of the United States in her memory.
