Norma Gertrude (Feulner) Groth passed peacefully in Bradenton, Florida on February 7, 2022 at the age of 100. Norma began her life in New York City and was the second of three children born to Edward and Gertrude (Menhofer) Feulner. She was a graduate of a secretarial school in Manhattan where she was later employed as a legal secretary at the prestigious insurance firm of Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. She married Gilbert Groth on January 10, 1942 at St. Matthias Catholic Church in Ridgewood, Queens. In 1955 they relocated to Wantagh to raise their family in the suburbs of Long Island and remained there for over 20 years until they retired to Bradenton in1979. During her years in Wantagh, Norma became a proficient organist and certified teacher of the Mildred Alexander Method. Her many years in Bradenton afforded her and Gil the wonderful opportunity of retirement. Norma's greatest loves were that of her Catholic faith, family and friends, playing the organ, traveling and in her later years, china painting. Norma and Gil were founding parishioners of Saints Peter and Paul the Apostles Catholic Church donating funds for construction as well as the Sanctuary Light. She was an active supporter of the Manatee County Girls Club (AKA Just For Girls) for over 42 years. In 2020 Norma and Gil received the Honorary Girls Award for Community Leadership and Longstanding Support of Just For Girls. Norma is survived by her children: son, Kenneth Groth of San Diego, California; daughter, Gail Groth Hannah of Bradenton and daughter, Kathleen Groth Marsar (Kevin Marsar) of Safety Harbor, Florida as well as six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Norma is preceded in death by her spouse, Gilbert Groth; two brothers, Edward and Robert Feulner and her son-in-law, Dr. Samuel C. Hannah. Norma was a beautiful and dedicated wife and mother who was kind to everyone she met. Family and friends are invited to share in her Mass of The Resurrection 9:30AM, Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Saints Peter & Paul the Apostles Catholic Church, 2850 75th Street West, Bradenton FL, 34209. Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory 43rd Street Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, kindly memorialize Norma with gifts to the Manatee County Girls Club Foundation 3809 59th St. W, Bradenton, FL 34209 or Best Care Home LLC to continue their loving work assisting the elderly and their families at 4222 30th Ln.
