Norma the daughter of Loren and Emma Book McConnell was born March 10, 1932, in Little Rock, Ark., and lived in Council Bluffs since 1947. She worked at the Council Bluffs Care Center and Bethany Lutheran Home. After retiring she moved to Red Oak, Iowa with Angela and Jay Ceder. We will remember Norma for her sense of humor, smiles and laughter. She enjoyed attending stock car races, playing games, and was an avid animal lover, caring for monkeys and parrots and rescuing strays.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Lawrence "Jim" McConnell and Edward R. McConnell; sister, Margaret Gunzenhauser.
Norma leaves to cherish her memory, brother, Ed (Fran) Morris; sister-in-law, Shirley McConnell, all of Council Bluffs; nieces and nephews, Linda (Roger) Bonham, Craig (Tina) McConnell, Diane Woods, Sharon Adrian, Edward Jr. (LuRene) McConnell, Angela (Jay) Ceder; many great and great-great nieces, nephews cousins and friends.
Visitation Thursday, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services Friday, 10 a.m., all at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Bayliss Park Chapel. Father Chuck Kottas, Pastor, St. Peters Church, officiant. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery followed by a luncheon at Cutler-O'Neill Walnut Hill Reception Center, 1350 E. Pierce St. Memorials to SOLAS preferred.
