Norma Tretheway Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 5, 2025.
Norma Jean Tretheway (Nosack), age 80, passed away unexpectedly on September 1, 2025, in Yreka, California, surrounded by family.

Born on November 15, 1944, in Salem, Oregon, Norma grew up on a farm where she developed a deep love for animals and the outdoors. Her early years were marked by her passion for horses and her time as a rodeo queen-experiences that shaped her spirited and determined nature. She attended Catholic school during her youth, laying the foundation for a life guided by faith and service. Norma was a direct descendant of the Oregon Trail.

Norma's professional journey was defined by her forward-thinking mindset and dedication. At a time when computers were just emerging in the workplace, she took the initiative to enroll in a computer class. This decision gave her a competitive edge and propelled her career forward at Cal Comp Insurance Company, where she rose to the position of manager. Her work ethic and adaptability left a lasting impression on colleagues and clients alike.

Beyond her career, Norma was deeply involved in her community. She was a devoted member and volunteer secretary at Big Springs Church in Montague, California. Her faith was central to her life, and she found joy in serving others through both her church and personal acts of kindness. Known for her generosity, Norma was always ready to lend a helping hand to those around her.

Family was at the heart of everything Norma did. She shared over five decades of marriage with Wyman "Bill" Maurice Tretheway, whom she married in 1967. Together, they raised three daughters: Deanna Lynn Conway (who preceded her in death), Karen Jean Daniels, and Maridee Susan Carson. Norma's legacy continues through her grandchildren-Shoun Conway, Charles Conway, Adam Daniels, David Pollack, Kaydee Carson, and Ray Carson III-and four great-grandchildren who brought immense joy to her later years.

Norma cherished time spent with loved ones during holidays and gatherings. She enjoyed sewing-often sharing handmade creations with friends and family-and remained active in her sewing club throughout the years. Her friendships were many and meaningful; she valued connection deeply and nurtured relationships with warmth and sincerity.

In accordance with Norma's wishes, she will be cremated, and no services will be held.

Condolences and expressions of sympathy may be shared at Legacy.com.

May Norma's memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.

Norma loved being with her grandkids; at Thanksgiving and in the pool. Sad. Thinking positive thoughts for these sorrowful days you are all going through, praying for comfort with this new 'normal', and may your hearts rest on the truth of Ezekiel 37! Hugs.
