Obituary

Norman Elmer Nolte, 92, Fertile, MN, died suddenly on Thursday, July 27, 2006, at his residence near Fertile. He was born on August 25, 1913, to Henry and Jennie (Deters) Nolte in rural Fertile, MN. Norman attended rural school near his home. Following his schooling, Norman began farming with his family. On October 23, 1940, Norman was united in marriage to Florence Scott. They were blessed with three children: Larry, Sandy, and Linda. Norman's farm was originally very diversified, having milk cows, chickens, hogs, and grains. In the mid 1960's, Norman sold his livestock, continuing to grow crops. Florence died in 1974. On December 30, 1981, Norman was united in marriage to Melvina Peterson. He retired in the mid 1980's from farming. Since retiring, Norman has traveled extensively, exploring new roads and sites as he went. He would winter in Phoenix, AZ and summer in Fertile. Melvina died in 1995. Norman was a major volunteer contributor to the Sandhill Golf Course. His abilities were put to good use as he cared for the machinery and tended to the grass. Norman is survived by one son, Larry (Linda) Nolte, Georgetown, TX; two daughters, Sandy Dalbec, Apple Valley, MN, and Linda (Keith) Stuhaug, Erskine, MN; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; four step children, Gwen, Laurie, Bob and Dick; three brothers, Clayton, Pagosa Springs, CO; Walter, Fertile, MN; and Orvis, Moorhead, MN; one sister, Ethel Shawstad, Fertile, MN; several nephews and nieces. Those who precede him in death are his parents, wives, Florence and Melvina; one sister, Eleanor and one brother, Donald. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, August 1, 2006, at 10:30 a.m. in the Concordia Lutheran Church, Fertile, MN. Visitation will be on Monday, July 31, 2006, from 5-7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. in the Erikson-Vik Funeral Home, Fertile, MN. Burial will be in the Concordia Lutheran Church, Fertile, MN. Erikson-Vik Funeral Home, Fertile, MN
