Norman WALDEN Obituary

Published by Vancouver Sun and/or The Province from Feb. 9 to Feb. 11, 2010.

WALDEN, Norman Frances "Timber" It is with great sadness and grieving hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Timber on February 2, 2010 after a 4 month battle with a brain tumour at the age of 51. Timber will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 30 years Rosanne, his four children Rhianna (Jay), Brodie, Spencer (Nicole), Tara and the apples of his eye his granddaughters Sienna and Madeleine. He is also survived by his mother, brothers and sisters, all of his in-laws, aunts and uncles, many cousins, an army of nieces and nephews, countless friends, acquaintances and business associates. Timber was a happy man, full of life with a true and obvious appreciation for the simple things. He had a deep and thorough love for his family and was a great father raising his children with traditional teachings and values in a house full of laughter and fun. As the proud owner and operator for 29 years of Timber's Disposal, Timber was best known for undeniable hardworking ways and dedication to his company. He will be fondly remembered for his striking genuineness, hardworking attitude, unique wit and forgiving nature. Timber always knew how to have a good time and always made time to stop to talk to a friend, acquaintance or even stranger. He will be greatly missed by many. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the The Salvation Army Rotary Hospice House in Richmond, BC. A celebration of life will be held at the Riverside Palace Grand Ballroom, 1231 Burdette Street, Richmond, BC on Saturday, February 13, 2010 from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. Online guest book comments and stories are welcome, please visit remembering.ca.

Dear Rosanne,
Ever since my sister Sherry married into the "Wild Walden" family, you and Timber have been an extention of my family too. I will always remember you two as a truly devoted couple, who livened up every family gathering. Plus, Timber always had the coolest collection of biker boots.
Please don't hesitate to call me in the future for our "girl talk" sessions at Brandees.
Try to find comfort in knowing you had a rare opportunity to spend thirty years with your one true love.

I remember the early days of my building career when I did a lot of work in south Van. Timber hauled rubbish for me and I always looked forward to a visit from him. His amusing stories and a great outlook on life often made my day. I also remember some great summer barbeques at the big old Richmond house. I am very saddened that he pegged out so early and offer my sincerest condolences to the rest of the family.

My condolences to the family of Timber. I grew up in Richmond, BC, two doors down from the Walden's. I haven't seen the family for many years, but will never forget any of them (including all nine kids). Ruby, Rosanne, and rest of family, my heart goes out to you in your time of sorrow. Timber still looks the same as he did many years ago. I often think of the family, and wonder what happened to all of the clan. It's sad to hear this way about a member of the family. I still have fond memories of spending time with all the kids, including Timber.Take care all of you, Cathe (Mosbeck), and the rest of the Fairful family.

Rosanne and family,
words fail at such a great loss to you all. My deepest condolences.
It's so sad and unfair that Timber's life had to end with so much living left to do. Someone so special will never be forgotten. His wonderful mega-family gatherings will be sorely missed.

Dear Roseanne and family,

I have fond memories of both Timber and Roseanne from our high school days. Even way back when, their love for each other was palpable.
I don't ever remember anyone having a bad word to say about Timber. He was a such a nice guy, and always, a gentleman.
And his hair never failed to make me smile.

I am so very sorry for your loss, Roseanne. I can't seem to find the words that I want to say to you at the moment, but please know that I am thinking about you now, as I have since you reached out to me when I had cancer a few years back. Forgive me for losing your email address.

May your happy memories as a family help you through these difficult days, and keep your spirits up, in the coming days and months.

Sincerely,
Barb (Madill) Kilburn

Dear Timber,

Our family will miss you always!

I still remember the young boy with the Afro coming to our house to see our little sister. You were both so smitten then and remained that way for 30 years. You and Rosanne worked hard to make a happy home and filled it with love and laughter.

You loved to chat, always had a smile and loved to give compliments to everyone. To leave this world and to be known as a good man says it all. You lived your life right and made many friends because of your kind, generous spirit.

Rest in Peace xooxoxoo
