Randy died Saturday, January 7, 2012. Born February 1, 1957 in Wilmington, N.C. he was the son of Mrs. Nancy Norris Scott and the late Olin Craig Scott. He graduated from Airport High School and the University of South Carolina. He was employed with Price Waterhouse, Standard Federal Savings and Loan, Coopers Lybrand and was most recently employed as managing partner of Scott and Company, L.L.P. Randy was a member of The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, SCACPA, NCACPA, and was certified in the states of South Carolina, Georgia, North Carolina, Texas, and Wisconsin. As a community volunteer, Randy served on the following boards and committees; Boy Scouts, Indian Waters Council, Richland County Sheriff's Foundation, Inc., USC Friends of Accounting, Greater Columbia Chamber of Commerce, and Rotary Club of Columbia. He attended Lake Murray Presbyterian Church. Randy thoroughly enjoyed life and loved his friends. He cared deeply for others and was always quick to help those in need. He was the kind of man who did not know a stranger. What made him happiest, though, was his family. He felt most fulfilled when he was surrounded by his loved ones. This was especially true of his grandchildren. His family will sorely miss him but always cherish the time they had with him.
Surviving are his wife, Kathy Wilbur Scott of Columbia; mother, Nancy Norris Scott of West Columbia; sons, Christopher Dale Scott (Amanda) of Chapin, Brian Randolph Scott and Jacob Brandon Scott both of West Columbia; two grandchildren, Grady and Caroline Scott; brother, Olin Craig Scott of Columbia; sisters, Lisa Scott Mallory (Danny) of Lexington, Carol Scott Browder of Lexington, Tina Scott Fry (Tony) of Little Mountain, along with numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorials may be made to Indian Waters Council, Boy Scouts of America, 715 Betsy Drive, Columbia, SC 29210.

Kathy, Dale, Brian and Jay,
Randy was a wonderful friend and mentor to me. I met Randy when I was just out of grad school and worked at Standard Federal. He was always kind and patient with me as I learned the banking business. Over the past few years, I got reaquainted with Randy working on the Executive Board of the Boy Scouts. Randy's warmth and kindness had not changed at all though it had been years since we'd seen each other. Yesterday's service was lovely; Dale, your eulogy was eloquent and touching...and totally captured your Dad's spirit. I know he was profoundly proud of all of you. You are all in heart, thoughts and prayers. God bless you.

To: Kathy and all of Randy's family
I am very sad to hear the news of Randy's death. I wanted to share with you that Randy passed on his legacy to me during my time of working for him at Moore Kirkland Scott & Beauston. In addition, Randy was instrumental with helping me obtain employment in private industry and now I am back in public accounting. I will always be grateful of Randy's legacy which was a man who always made time to listen to me and ask me how I was doing and would always go out of his way to ask about my family. May God comfort you during this time of grieving. My family will keep you in our prayers.

The entire Scott family: What a treasure Randy was. He made a habit of calling me 3-4 times a year to check in on the School of Accounting. He always asked "How can I help the School" and "How is your son doing." What a caring and thoughtful person. We will miss him greatly. We are so sorry for your loss.

God Bless you, Randy. Our loss is heaven's gain. Keep heaven laughing, until we get there. At the end, you want to know life matter. I can say yours did, I was a better person because I knew you. You may be gone, but you will never be forgotten. I look forward to the reunion in heaven one day.
