Dear Tolmans,
Heartbreaking news. Max and Nyla formed part of the bedrock of my youth experiences, most of them memories that warm my soul today. I'm sorry I'm unable to attend the funeral, but know that I love and appreciate you.

Dear Tolman family,

We were saddened by the sudden passing of Nyla. NaDene considered Nyla her friend. They shared the love of volunteering at Lakeview Hospital. Nyla was such a dear, sweet person.

Jana misses the days of scrapbooking with Lynnette and Shauna, and misses having Lynnette, Jim, and their family as neighbors.

We regret we are unable to attend any of the services for Nyla as Stan is in the hospital following knee replacement surgery yesterday (10/19/09).

Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with your family at this difficult time.

Dearest Max and family,

Nyla and Max have been so wonderful and kind to me. Nyla has come to me many times and played games with me to help take my mind off my problems. She was such a wonderful example to me. She and Max went with me through the temple this past spring and it meant the world to me knowing they were there. What a great woman. I am saddened by our loss. My deepest sympathies and love always.

Dear Friend, Max, and your family:
It is with double sadness that I returned home late last night from an extended trip to California, to discover the note from my wife that Larry Justinsen called and left a message that Nyla had passed away! I was instantly flooded with memories of our youth, church basketball, our girlfriends cheering us on (Nyla, yours), some double-dating. Laughs. Goofy teen stuff.
And now she's gone. Our Bountiful 3rd Ward gang... one fewer now.
Know how much I loved being around you all. We love living in Colorado Springs, but we do miss being closer, to support such occasions as this sad one. I will unfortunately not be able to make it over on such short notice, due to my University teaching commitments on Tuesday-Wednesday.
My deepest sympathy, Max... but with fond, enjoyable past memories.
Goodbye, my good friend, Nyla.

I'm so sorry and saddened by the passing of my dear friend, Nyla. My condolences to the Tolman family. She was such a beautiful, selfless person. I worked with Nyla for several years in Special Education at Bountiful Jr. High and Boulton Elementary in Davis School District. She touched the lives of so many students and collegues she worked with. Nyla will surely be missed.

Dear Max and family:
I was saddened to read of Nyla's sudden passing. It was an honor to serve with her as a class officer at Bountiful High School. She was a hard worker and always willing to help with any project or activity. Even though it has been 50+ years since we worked together, I will always be grateful for our association and friendship. I am grateful that Virginia and I were able to sit with you and Nyla at our 50th class reunion last year in Salt Lake and renew our friendship. We wish we could be present for her funeral, but our current assignment in the temple precludes us from doing so.
May the Lord bless and comfort all of you and you may take comfort in knowing that you are a family that will be together forever.
With love and sympathy,
Tom and Virginia Clark

Dear Tolman Family,
I was so sad to learn that Nyla has suddenly left us. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and teacher. Not only did I have the good fortune of raising my children close by your family, but also the opportunity of working with Nyla in special education. Her wonderful optimism about life was one of her most endearing traits. My deepest sympathy for your loss.

Dear Shaunna,

I am so sorry to hear about your sweet Mom. I loved coming to your house, she always gave us fantastic treats, and laughed with us! And I remember the sleep overs in 6th grade. Your house was always full of fun and love. I love you Shaunna, please let me know how to find you?

With love and prayers,

-Laura Sumsion Barila

I would like to extend my deepest sympathy in your loss. Nyla made a very good impression on me years ago when Kelly and Norma got married. She is a beautiful soul and I know it is a hard loss for all.

What a sad surprise! My sister, Margaret, and I had such a good time with Nyla and her sister, Cheryl, on our DUP trip. She was an especially fun person to travel with (and to play cards with in our spare time).

Please accept our sincere condolences!
