Moira Anderson Obituary

Published by Vancouver Sun and/or The Province from Mar. 29 to Mar. 30, 2008.
ANDERSON - MOIRA (NEE LEITH)January 6, 1918 - March 22 2008 Moira Anderson (nee Leith) passed away peacefully on March 22, 2008 at Richmond General Hospital after a short battle with cancer. Moira was born in Vancouver, January 6, 1918, as the third child of David and Clara Leith. They lived in Kerrisdale then moved to University Hill when Moira was 12, where they lived for many years. She eventually met the boy down the street. The two went to high school together and had a fun group of friends, but did not get serious until some years later. They married in 1942 while George was in the air force. She moved to Regina where she had her first experience of a very cold prairie winter. She was impressed, but not so impressed with the following hot summer. In 1944 she went back home to mom and dad's to have their first child Leith, like so many other friends were doing. Life came back to normal after the war, and George returned home. They then subsequently had daughter Leslie and a son Blair. After the children were grown Moira and George were fortunate to be able to indulge in their love of travel. They visited numerous countries in Europe and Moira traveled to Peru with a group of weavers. In September 1999, George passed away. They are blessed with five grandchildren and one great granddaughter. Moira has been a very active member of the congregation at Gilmore Park United Church where she made wonderful friends that have stood by her through the good and the bad, bless them all. Moira was predeceased by her husband George Anderson. They are survived by daughter Leslie Ross (Kenneth), sons Leith and Blair (Mary-Anne), 5 grandchildren, Chris, Megan, Laine, Kimberly and Parker, and great-granddaughter Eden. A celebration of life will take place on Sunday, April 6, 2008 at 2:00pm at Gilmore Park United Church, 8060 No.1 Road, Richmond BC. In lieu of flowers donations to the Richmond Hospital Foundation would be appreciated. Leslie, Leith and Blair, Though it is years since we had contact, I remember being in and out of your home on Dunbar Street. Your Mum always seemed to be busy in the kitchen. The loss of one's Mum is always signficant, but I am sure that you and your children have many fond memories of a lady who lived a long life. My condolances to all of you. Elaine Barnes formerly of W. 38th Ave.
