John Joseph O'Connor, 83, a 50-year resident of Linthicum who recent ly moved to Fairfax, Va., died Feb. 18 at his daughter's home in Annandale, Va., after a short battle with leukemia.
Born Nov. 4, 1926, in Beaver Falls, Pa., he was a graduate of Duquesne University and had a Master's of Education degree from Towson State University. John was a U.S. Army PFC WWII veteran in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre.
He retired after over 30 years as a Baltimore County high school history teacher at Towson High School, and lacrosse, track and tennis coach. He was a charter member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, Linthicum and served as a lector and zealous member of the Right-to-Life Committee. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Gretta Healey O'Connor; twin daughters, Ellen Horne and husband Tripp of Annandale, Va., and Karen Nesbitt and husband Marty of Easton, Pa.; five grandchildren, Charles and Claire Horne, and Lauren, Martin and Jack Nesbitt; a brother, Walter O'Connor of Marietta, Ohio; and a sister, Rose Marie O'Connor of Brattleboro, Vt.
Funeral will take place Saturday, Feb 27 from Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home, Carbondale, Pa., with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Carbondale.

Hi this is tricia from giant his local grocery store and pharmacy for many of years for him and mrs gretta.. Im so lost for words.. He was a very kind man with a great sense of humor .. He will be greatly missed.. Your family is in my prayers
