Regina Mary (Rule) Fitzpatrick was born March 13, 1919, in Dunlap, Iowa to parents Raymond H. and Mary A. (Murphy) Rule. She died on Monday, August 16, 2010, at the age of 91 years, five months and three days. Regina graduated from St. Joseph Catholic School in Dunlap in 1935. She attended Iowa State Teachers College and taught in country schools in Crawford County. Regina married Joseph B. Fitzpatrick on September 16, 1940, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Dunlap, Iowa. To this union five children were born. The couple started farming Joe's family farm near Denison, Iowa in 1943. In 1946, they moved to a farm near Dunlap. The couple retired in 1981 and moved to their present home in Dunlap.

Regina was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Dunlap, the Altar Society, the Catholic Daughters, and the Friendly Neighbors Club. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the light of her life.

Regina was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joe Fitzpatrick on October 1, 1999; one sister in infancy, Genevieve Rule; three brothers, Donavan, Gilbert and Walter Rule. She is survived by her five children, Sister Jude Fitzpatrick of West Des Moines, Iowa, Jeanne and her husband James Hoffmann of Dunlap, Iowa, Joe Ray Fitzpatrick and his wife Katie of Dow City, Iowa, John Fitzpatrick and his wife Beverly of Plano, Texas and Jim Fitzpatrick and his wife Nimet of Sun City, Arizona; 11 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; three step great grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Clarice Rule of Dunlap, Iowa, Kay Rule of Sacramento, California and Margie Rule of Arvada, Colorado; and other relatives and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial was at 11:00 am Friday, August 20, 2010 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Dunlap, IA. Celebrant Rev. Howard Fitzgerald. Musicians; Marily Grote and Jerry Baldwin. Pall Bearers; John Hoffmann, Joe Hoffmann, Jeff Hoffmann, Joe Mike Fitzpatrick, Chris Fitzpatrick, Neal Fitzpatrick, Adam Fitzpatrick. Final Resting Place Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Dunlap, IA.
