Betty Kendall Obituary

Services for Betty N. Kendall, 58, of Carthage, formerly of Tyler, are set for 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 5, 2010, in the chapel of Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home with the Rev. Oren Gardener officiating. Burial will be in Williams Cemetery.

Mrs. Kendall passed away on Saturday, Oct. 30, 2010, in Tyler. She was born Oct. 21, 1952, in Greenville and lived most of her life in Tyler. She graduated from Chapel Hill High School, was a registered nurse and was a Christian. She had a heart of gold and loved helping others. She was preceded in death by a stepson, Joshuah Kendall; and her mother, Winell Simmons Rush.

Survivors are her husband, Steve Kendall, of Carthage; father and stepmother, John and Marjie Rush, of New Chapel Hill; a son, James B. Walker; a daughter, Apryl M. O'Dell, of Tyler; two stepdaughters, Amanda Kendall, of San Antonio and Ashley N. Stockton, of Galveston; two brothers, Johnny E. Rush, of Louisiana, and Lonnie Martinez, of Granbury; three sisters, Gale Rush, of Tyler, Elizabeth Kilcrease, of Fort Worth, and Karen Sturgeon, of Granbury; and 10 grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Ivie Umphries, Scotty Miller, Jonathan Smith, Tom Long, Johnny Rush, Clayton Kennon, Jerry Payne and LeRoy Skinner Jr.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Family will be served lunch at 11 a.m. Friday at Colonial Hills Baptist Church, 7330 S. Broadway Ave., in Tyler.
