George T. Miller George T. Miller, 74, a resident of 10212 Kesner Lane, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 20, 2005, at his home. He was born August 8, 1931, in Roanoke, Va., a son of the late Frank Miller and the late Lillian Horsley Miller. He was a graduate of Jefferson High School in Roanoke, and held a B. S. Degree in Mining Engineering from Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy. He was a retired employee of U. S. Gypsum Company, where he served as Mine Superintendent and Engineer for 35 years. He was a faithful member of Greendale Chapel, where he served as Chairman of the Board, Sunday School Teacher, Assistant Sunday School Superintendent, Chairman of the Missions Committee, and Teacher of the Sunday Evening Bible Study Class. He was very active in missions work and was Chairman of Family Life Outreach Ministries, serving with FLO/Haiti and FLO/USA. He made numerous foreign mission trips, primarily to Haiti, where he had a very special interest in the school children of that country. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Margaret Willis Miller, at home; three sons, Doug Miller and wife Abby, of Abingdon, Eric Miller and wife Janet, of Meadowview, Va., and Chuck Miller and wife Jenny, of Lawton, Okla.; three daughters, Connie Clanton and husband Ashby, of Johnson City, Tenn., Donna Vaughan and husband Darryl, of Mt. Gilead, Ohio, and Emily Rush and husband Todd, of Meadowview, Va; one brother, Jacques Miller, of Lynchburg, Va.; one sister, Juanita Ferguson, of Henderson, Nev.; 18 grandchildren, Lauren Clanton, Nicholas Clanton, Jason Miller, Josh Miller, Sarah Vaughan, Kimberly Vaughan, Anna Vaughan, Elizabeth Rush, Katheryn Rush, Ben Rush, Daniel Rush, Ruth Lee Rush, Joseph Rush, Rachel Rush, Jamie Miller, Jessica Miller, Janie Miller, and Madison Miller; four great-grandchildren, Caity Miller, Adam Miller, Christian Miller, and Lilly Miller; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for George T. Miller will be conducted at 11 a.m. Sunday, October 23, 2005, in the Greendale Chapel, with the Rev. Jerry A. Eggers officiating. Burial will follow in the Greendale Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Gary Clatterbuck, Noel McMillan, Bill Slemp, Roy McNew, Dick Gardner, David Helton, Eddie McConnell, and Sherlock Kimberlin. Honorary pallbearers will be George Kestner, Larry Brown, Gary Foran, Charlie Branch, and Cecil Scyphers, additional men of Greendale Chapel and members of the Adult II Sunday School Class of the Church. The family will receive friends at the Greendale Chapel from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday evening.
