JOHN STERANKO Obituary
JOHN
Age 97, of Mt. Lebanon, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 14, 2017. He grew up in Pittsburgh, graduating from South Side High School, Class of 1937. He was awarded the Bronze Star while serving in the 85th Army division during WWII. He graduated from Carnegie Tech, Class of 1954, becoming a noted Byzantine Catholic Church architect. He worked until he was 79 for the Army Corp of Engineers and most proud of his designs at Stonewall Jackson Park. Later in life he had a love of gardening. On November 12, 1949 he married his true love, Ellen Morgan. He was the Loving Father of Ellen (Robert) Rinehart, John "David" (Jane), and Richard (Laura Gravatt) and Devoted Grandfather of Sarah (Josh Hatfield), George "Michael", Anastasia, and Sally (Zach Nock). A private burial will be arranged by BEINHAUER - FRYER, Bridgeville, (412-221-3800) for February 21, 2017. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Carnegie Mellon Architecture School, http://giving.cmu.edu/soa Online condolences may be offered at: www.beinhauer.com.
