Donica Bevin Johnson, born August 19, 1971 in Castro Valley, California and died June 5, 2004 in Seattle, Washington at the age of 32. Attended Brown's Valley Elementary in Napa, California, Fairwood Elementary, Cascade Elementary, and Nelsen Middle School in Renton, Washington. At Cascade Elementary she met her best friend, Roxanne Knowle, who would later become her step-sister. She graduated with honors from Renton High School with a "Top Ten Percent of Washington State" Academic Achievement Award in 1989. She graduated Cum Laude from Washington State University in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science. She managed the Fitness Center and Spa for the Hotel Del Coronado in San Diego, California and was also the Wellness Center Manager for Encad Corporation in San Diego. Donica was passionate about fitness and nutrition, competing on the Napa Seahawks Swim Team, the Renton High School swim team and cross country team. She competed in many races and fun runs in the Seattle area. She published a nutrition-based newsletter titled, "Against the Grain." She devoted many hours of research in the field of nutrition and wellness. Donica was a bright and beautiful girl who was a loving daughter and a true friend. She is survived by her father, Gerald Johnson of Pocatello, Idaho; her mother, Linda Knowle of Renton, Washington; her step-father, Glenn Knowle; her step-sister, Roxanne Knowle; step brother, Ryan Knowle, grandmother, Doris Granger; step-grandparents, Dave and Alma Knowle; aunt and uncle Susan and Dan Blanton, aunt and uncle Kris and Steve Williams, aunt and uncle Norma and Rich Richards; cousins Michael and Ian Blanton, and her very devoted friend, Michelle Chapman. She will be missed by those who knew and loved her. A memorial service will be held at St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Renton on Saturday, June 12th at 1:00 pm.
