Robert Curtis Obituary

Robert F. Curtis, 74, of Mansfield, husband of June (Leigh) Curtis, died Friday, (November 22, 2002) at the Windham Hospital. He was born May 14, 1928 in Stafford Springs, the son of the late John and Lula (Ladd) Curtis, and had lived in Mansfield since 1960. He was employed for 33 years at the former American Thread Co. in Willimantic and retired from Manchester Community College. Mr. Curtis also managed the Mansfield Drive-In for 13 years. He and his wife enjoyed country music and western dancing. In addition to his wife of 47 years, he is survived by three daughters and a son-in-law, Robin Wheland of Willimantic, June M. Curtis of Scotland, Ronna and Denis Blanchette of Windham Center; a brother, John N. Curtis Jr. and his wife Barbara of Windham; a sister, Marion Jensen of Portland, ME; five grandchildren, Corey Curtis-Gray, Dennis Walton, Tara, Randy and Brenden Wheland; three step grandchildren, Julie, Lisa and Josh; three step great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. His family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195), Willimantic, on Monday from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Reverend Richard Duvall officiating. Burial will be private at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Connecticut Children's Medical Center, 282 Washington St., Hartford, CT 06106.
