Bertrand K. "Bert" Burr of High Falls, died Friday, January 26, 2007 at Benedictine Hospital in Kingston, N.Y. He was 79.

The son of the late Bertrand S. Burr and Myrtle Schoonmaker Burr, he was born November 22, 1927 in Kingston, N.Y.

Bert was a graduate of Kingston High School, Class of 1945. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1946 to 1947, stationed in Germany as part of the Army occupation. He was an Estimating Supervisor for Central Hudson Gas & Electric, retiring in 1987.

He was a very active member of the Reformed Church, most recently at the United Reformed Church of Rosendale. He had served on the Consistory and was a Deacon and an Elder. Prior to the merger of the Rosendale Reformed Church with the Bloomington Reformed, he served on the Consistory of the Rosendale Reformed Church and was a Deacon and an Elder at the Rosendale Reformed Church. When he lived in Kingston, he attended the Reformed Church of the Comforter and was on the Comforter Consistory.

He had a love for music and sang with many groups. Starting in his youth, he sang in St. John's Boys Choir, in high school he was in the choir and the A Cappella Choir. In 1948, he joined the Mendelssohn Club and sang with them until 1961, and then from 1998 to 2005. He sang with the Catskill Glee Club and the Yankee Male Choir. For 30 years he sang in the Fair Street Reformed Church Choir.

When his children were young, he was an active member of the Rondout Valley Little League, where he had been a coach and manager. He was a 55+ year member of Kingston Lodge #10 F.& A.M.; was a member of Hassett Post #686 V.F.W. in High Falls, and was a member of the Tillson American Legion.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy Barnum Burr, whom he married on June 10, 1950 at the Reformed Church of the Comforter; three sons: Brian Burr of Kingston, Bruce Burr and his wife, Linda of Delhi, N.Y., and Jeffrey Burr and his wife, Jody of Naples, Fla.; two daughters, Christine Lyons and her husband, Harry of Port Ewen, and Carolyn Pitt and her husband, Harry of Greenfield Park, N.Y.; nine grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, January 28, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Keyser Funeral Service, Inc., 326 Albany Ave., Kingston, N.Y.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 29 at the United Reformed Church of Rosendale, Bloomington, N.Y., with the Rev. Nicholas Miles officiating. Interment will follow in Rosendale Plains Cemetery, Rosendale, N.Y., with full military honors by Joyce Schrick of Post #1386 V.F.W.
