Olaug PALMER Obituary

Published by Calgary Herald from Feb. 23 to Feb. 24, 2018.

PALMER, Olaug "Ollie"
1924 – 2018
Ollie passed away peacefully on February 18, 2018. Born in Norway in 1924, Ollie came to Canada as a child with her parents Rakel and Rasmus Hobberstad along with brother Hans and sister Olivia (Wiest). Youngest sister Sylvia (Rombough) was born in Canada. After growing up on the farm near Circle Hill, Ollie ventured to Lethbridge to work and there met the love of her life, Bill (William) Palmer. They married on June 7, 1947 and enjoyed 61 years of love and happiness until Bill passed away in 2008. Survived by her two children, Pat (Bob) Cooper and Doug (Janice) Palmer, Ollie spent her life devoted to family and friends in the Vauxhall area, Lethbridge and Calgary as well as close relatives in Norway. She bowled, played bridge, loved to travel and to dance, was a great cook and a wonderful baker. Ollie's family would like to thank the caring staff at the Beverly AgeCare Glenmore especially Dr. Stinton and Marinel Padua Appave. A family ceremony in Ollie's memory will be held in Lethbridge later this spring. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made to the Alberta Cancer Foundation, Tom Baker Cancer Centre, 1331 – 29 Street SW, Calgary AB, T2N 4N2, https://albertacancer.ca/donate/cancer- centres. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family by visiting leydens.com.
