Oleh Dutkewych Obituary
Oleh moved to Harvard at the age of twelve and graduated Bromfield High School in 1985. Choosing to pursue a military education, Oleh attended Norwich University - The Military College of Vermont, where, based on his academic and athletic achievements at Bromfield, received an Army ROTC scholarship. Oleh was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the United States Army in 1989, and completed Officer Basic Training in Huntsville, Alabama, and Airborne School and Special Weapons School Ft. at Benning, Georgia. After his military schooling, Oleh was assigned to his first duty station in Crailsheim, Germany and subsequently deployed to Saudi Arabia in support of Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm.
Oleh returned to Harvard and married Suzanne Hazel on August 14, 1993. Oleh was a proud and devoted father, a loving husband, a brother, a son and a best friend. We love you. He is also survived by his wife of 17 years, Suzanne J. (Hazel) Dutkewych four children: Alexandra, Nathaniel, Dmitri, and Natalia all of Harvard. Oleh is also survived by his parents, Oleh B. and Marta Dutkewych of Chatham, MA, and three brothers: Roman Dutkewych of Ellington, CT, Adrian Dutkewych of Jefferson, NH, and Mark Dutkewych of Lincoln, MA.
Oleh worked as a financial advisor for Solomon Smith Barney and was a member of Harvard Lions Club and Harvard Color Guard.
Visiting hours 4-8 pm Friday, at Saint Benedict Abbey, 252 Still River Road (Still River) Harvard, MA. A funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am Saturday, January 15, 2011 at St. John the Evangelist Church, 80 Union Street in Clinton, MA. Burial to follow Bellevue Cemetery Harvard.

Suzanne...."I read the news today, oh boy"...it is from an email about the bench dedication during Alumni Weekend at Norwich. I live in Las Vegas but keep up with events. This sad event I missed. I am so sorry for his family and your loss. He was such a great, fun guy. Your children were very lucky to have a father like him. I was a fellow rugger and he was fun to be a teammate with. To Suzanne and the entire Dutkewych Family. I just heard about Oleh and was terribly saddened to hear of his passing. Although I had not seen him since May of 1989 I still have great memories of him. I went to Norwich with Oleh and played on the soccer team with him. He was one of those people who you will always remember as you go through life. I count myself lucky to have known him and been able to spend time with him. I am so sorry for your loss.
