OLGA AVERY

Olga Avery Longtime Rahway resident and great-grandmother, 40-year Singer employee, 92 Olga (Worona) Avery of Rahway, N.J., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2015, at home, with her family by her side. She was 92. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 9 a.m. from the Corey-Ragan Funeral Home, 259 Elm Ave., Rahway. Thence to St. Vladimir's Greek Catholic Church, Elizabeth, N.J., for a 10 a.m. funeral service. Entombment will be in St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia, N.J. Visitation is Friday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Born in Elizabeth, N.J., Olga resided in Rahway for the past 65 years. Prior to her retirement in 1984, she worked as a line worker with Singer Co. in Elizabeth and then Fairfield, N.J., for 40 years. Mrs. Avery was a member of St Vladimir's Greek Catholic Church, Elizabeth. and the St. Anne's Society at St. Mark's Church, Rahway, and the League of Ukrainian Catholics, the Catholic Daughters of America and the Deutscher Club, Clark, N.J. Predeceased by her husband, Merton, in 2002, she is survived by one daughter, Lorriane Detlefson of South Amboy, N.J.; one son, Charles, of Rahway; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild on the way.
