Oline Erickson

Obituary

Oline Erickson, the daughter of Mathilda (Pederson) and Brede Christianson, was born on December 13, 1907 in Haug, MN. She graduated from Greenbush High School in 1915 and attended the American Business College in Minneapolis. She and Andy Erickson were married on April 9, 1932 at the Oiland Lutheran Church in rural Greenbush. They lived on farm homesteaded by his parents, where they milked cows and raised 10 children. They retired from farming in 1960 and moved to Badger. From 1960-1972, Oline cooked at the Badger School, and she and Andy also ran Andy's Drive-In during the summer months, and later retired in 1973. Oline was named the Outstanding Senior Citizen for Roseau County in 1977. She participated in the Bicentennial Wagon Train in 1976 and traveled with Andy and her son, Kent from St. Paul to Valley Forge, PA by a horse drawn wagon. She entered the Greenbush Nursing Home in December of 2000. She was a 4-H Leader for 35 years, a life member of the Minnesota Horticultural Society, the Gro-Rite Garden Club, her Church Choir and Ladies Aide, and was an avid Twins baseball fan. She enjoyed doing puzzles, crocheting, reading the daily paper, traveling, and visiting with her many friends and family. She passed away on December 1, 2005 at the Greenbush Community Nursing Home at the age of 97. She is survived by her children: Shirley (Curtis) Pietz of Worthington, MN, Linda (Dale) Monsrud of Coon Rapids, MN, Lola (Roger) Solheim of Rochester, MN, Mona (Mike) Conroy of Minneapolis, Russell (Geraldine) Erickson of East Lansing, MI, Sheldon (Helen) Erickson of Badger, Gary (Joan) Erickson of Badger, Clark (Harriet) Erickson of Eden Prairie, MN and Kent Erickson (special friend, Karla Erdahl) of Mesa, AZ; 23 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; sisters, Clarise Swart of Badger and Ruth Erickson of Roseau; special nephew, Dennis Copeland of Kansas; sister-in-law, Myrtle Christianson of Greenbush; son-in-law, and Ken Magnusson of Zumbrota, MN. She was preceded in death by her husband, Andy in 1994; daughter, Lois; 4 brothers, and 3 sisters. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 6th at 1:00 PM at the United Free Lutheran Church in Greenbush. Visitation will be on Monday from 5-7 PM with a 7:00 prayer service at Helgeson Funeral Chapel in Roseau. Interment will be at the Swedish Cemetery in Badger. Helgeson Funeral Chapel of Roseau has charge of the arrangements.
