Mrs. McDowell passed away at her home on Thursday, July 1, 2010. She was born July 18, 1934, in McKeesport, PA, to the late Vern M. Norman and Pearl Foster Norman. Mrs. McDowell was a long-time member of Eastover Pentecostal Holiness Church, where she taught children's Sunday school classes. She was employed with the Richland One School District.
Mrs. McDowell is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, RJ McDowell; children, Joe Williams, Marvin Williams (wife, Gery), Leroy Shoaf, Donald Shoaf (wife, Madeline), and Rhonda Parker (husband, Dean); eight grandchildren, Ronnie, Mandy, Joe, Shannon, Susan, Elizabeth, Donnie, and Pearl; five great-grands, Leah, Madison, Theo, Roxy and Rory; brother, George Norman (wife, Betty Lee); and her nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and brother and sister-in-law. mom, today we laid you down to rest and our hearts are filled with sorrow,we know you will always be with us, in our hearts and by our side. we know you will always watch over us and guide us in the right path. you have always loved us unconditionaly and we will follow your lead. now is the time when your family will need to peace with losing you but i know you will be looking down on us and keeping an eye out for us. i love you mom. i miss you and will one day look at your beautiful face in heaven. love you always don and madeline

Granny, you will be missed unconditionally by your family.You were the link that kept our family together. I hope that our family will continue to live by your values.I want to also thank you for the love you gave me through-out my life, and for you making me the man I am today. You have always shown everyone what love is and what it was liked to be loved no matter how good,bad or disappointed you may have been you still always loved us for being the person we were.

Mrs. McDowell will be greatly missed by those who knew her well. She was a very loving kind women with such a beautiful smile. You could truly see the love that she and her husband shared. I know the family has great memories of her. May God give you peace at this time of your loss. East Columbia Pentecostal Holiness Church members will miss her smiling face as well.
