Dearest Linda, Steve and Families,
I just want to share some of my perspective on your father and my friend.
Bob was a bit like a fresh cookie just out of the oven. He was sort of hard and crusty on the outside but once you reached the heart, he was soft and warm and full of goodness.
He taught me much during our years of working hard and playing hard together.
I know that a lot of who I am today is a direct result of his considerable influence.
I will always remember the times I would be driving the truck back to the shop. He would chime in on the radio, "How about bringing the old man a little spider!" he would bark. He and I knew what it meant and I would dutifully stop at the corner liquor store for a pint of Kessler.
But more important to me, it also meant we would probably get an invite to supper that evening.
I loved his competitive spirit. I probably owe him more than a few hundred dollars from our gin rummy games for a penny a point. He loved to win.
He wanted Linda and Steve to grow up to be the winners that they have certainly become. He and Carol did a great job of raising all of us.
I would have liked to thank him for all he did for me just one more time. But I'm sure he knew.
Just like that cookie, once you get past that crusty exterior, he was the absolute sweetest man to those he loved.
May God bless all those who miss him.
Terry

Uncle Bob, my second dad when I was growing up. I always, to this day, remember the good times with our families AND picking a bucket of weeds before you would let Steve, Linda, Rick and me go have fun! Comforting to know you are in a much better place...Love Julie

What I remember about you is your feisty soul and tough exterior. Much of that is from the stories that I have heard about you in your younger years. Stories will continue to be told about you and your renegade ways, and passed down from your grandchildren to theirs. That is a gift in itself.
A personal regret of mine is that we did not make the time to get to know one another better. Despite that, I will share in your legacy by telling the stories and remembering them... Like the one time you scared Linda at the drive-in while she was watching the 1963 film "The Birds"... or the infamous time when you lit your chest hair on fire... or how much your children loved you. Never was there a more dynamic character and you will not be forgotten.
With love,
Bethany
