Oliver Farris Dewitt Hix Oliver Farris Dewitt Hix, 28, passed away Sunday, July 27, 2014, at his home in Half Moon Bay, Calif. Born March 11, 1986, in San Mateo, Oliver grew up with his six brothers, Gavin, Alec and Alden, in Half Moon Bay, and Holden, Hannon and Hyland, in Montara. Oliver attended Half Moon Bay High School. Soon after high school, Oliver ventured to the Northwest and worked as a longshoreman in Vancouver, Wash. Oliver returned to Half Moon Bay in 2011 to start a new life in the place he called home. Oliver was loved and admired by all who knew him. Those who knew Oliver describe him as being the most caring, kind-hearted, compassionate, thoughtful, unselfish, yet larger than life person imaginable. His infectious smile and charismatic personality and visions of world peace captured every soul he met. Oliver's understanding of life and spirituality transcended the "day-to-day" routine life most of us know. His ability to be empathetic touched all those he came in contact with. Oliver loved creating beautiful works of art, writing poetry, enjoying time with his family, girlfriend and friends. Oliver was a stunning example of how we all should treat each other — with the ultimate respect and love. Oliver is survived by his mother, Cathy von Husen-Welch and his father, Farris Hix. Oliver is also survived by Mark McGregor, Matt Welch and Kelley Hix. Oliver's extended family includes Carolynn von Husen, Eric von Husen, Michelle Franco, Karen and Tony Faland, Lisa and John Petit, along with his loving cousins and grandparents Ken and Marcy von Husen and Lily Ann and James McGregor. The Hix extended family includes Christian and Heidi Hix, Danielle and Pete Mondahl, Anthony Hix, Liza Hix, Griger and Angela Hix, and Mariya and Rick Semeit, along with his loving cousins and grandparents Farris and Patricia Hix, of Montara, Calif. The viewing for Oliver will be at 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Aug. 10 at Miller-Dutra Coastside Chapel, with a memorial service immediately following, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Oliver's wonderful spirit, joy and talents will be remembered during a Celebration of Life, set for 2- 5 p.m. at the San Benito House on the garden patio.
