Oliver Matos Soares

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, brother, husband and son Oliver Matos Soares. Oliver died on November 29, 2021 after a two year battle with cancer. Oliver was born on March 31, 1958 in Sao Jorge, Azores to Antonio and Ema Soares. They moved to the U.S.A. when he was 8 years old, settling in Half Moon Bay. Oliver began working for BFI/Recology in 1979 and retired in April of 2021 as a member of Local teamsters after 42 years. In 1979 he married his childhood sweetheart Maria F. Oliveira. They build their lives in Half Moon Bay with their boys Kenny and Timmy. Oliver had many talents and enjoyed building and creating projects around his home. He was always willing to help his friends and family with special projects. He enjoyed his Raiders, dancing, and Country music. His greatest passion was hunting with his boys. He was an active auctioneer for many Portuguese organizations in the bay area. Oliver is survived by his wife Maria of 43 years, sons Kenny (Darcy), Timmy (Kelsey), his father Antonio, brother Lazaro, sister-in-law Ingrid, sister-in-law Caroline and brother-in-law Charlie. Several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He loved life, a good party and was looking forward to becoming a grandfather for the first time in February 2022. He is proceeded in death by his beloved mother Ema Soares. Funeral services are Friday December 3rd at Our Lady of Pillar Church at 10:00 a.m.
