Olivia Jones Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 13, 2014.
Celebration of life will be at 5 p.m. Monday at Whorton Bend Baptist Church for Olivia Jean Billingsley Jones "Sissy," 66, Southside, who went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, July 11, 2014. Her son Joey Jones will officiate. Burial will be in Williams Southside-Memorial. Collier-Butler Funeral Home is directing.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Silvey Billingsley; father-in-law, Russell Earl Jones; sister, Lisa Cason; brother-in-law, Ronnie Reynolds; and nephew, Wayne Diviney.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Jimmy Jones; her daughter, Kristi (Jami) Christopher; son, Joey (Amanda) Jones; grandchildren, Judson, Joshua and Jack Christopher; sisters, RaNae Spielberger (Glenn), Debbie Reynolds Smith (Darrell); and brother, Roger Billingsley (Linda); sister-in-law, Wanda Hurst; mother-in-law, Cleo Jones; and a host of nieces, nephews; and special friend, Yvonne Garrard.
She was a 1965 graduate of Emma Sansom High School. She was a longtime employee of Rainbow City Kmart, and then employed with Market America until time of death, in which the family would like to extend a special thank you to Marv Snow for his kindness and generosity over the years.
She was a longtime faithful member of Whorton Bend Baptist Church, in which she was a member of the Gleaners Sunday School class. She loved and cherished her Church family dearly. Sissy was an awesome lady who was a true fighter and always loved her husband and was a wonderful mother, sister and grandmother. She battled many different sicknesses, but always seemed to leave all hospitals and doctors' offices smiling, always caring about somebody else other than herself. Our mother was the most selfless and happy person that we have ever known. She was a lady who was ready to meet the Lord, as the Bible says to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. We Love and miss you Sissy (Mom).
Pallbearers will be Jason Patty, Chris Jones, Tim McKee, Brandon Snyder, Matt Davis, Jason Keenum, Trey Mink and Chris (Arlo) Guthery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Children and Youth department at Whorton Bend Baptist Church, 2820 Whorton Bend Road, Gadsden, AL 35901.
The family wishes to express a special thanks to the Southside Police and Fire Department, Dr. Glenn and the Emergency staff at Gadsden Regional Medical Center.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. with the service following.

I have great memories of working with Olivia for 16 years at K-mart. She always had a smile on her face and always made us laugh. Praying God will give you peace and comfort during this difficult time. It's never easy giving up a loved one but the comfort is knowing you will see her soon and she will be healthy and smiling. Love to all the family.

So sorry about Sissy passing. She always took time to talk to you no matter where you saw her and she was always laughing and smiling. To Joey and Kristi your mom was so proud of you and loved you so much! I know how you are hurting right now because I've been there myself. But good memories, some time, and knowing she is with Jesus will help. My heart goes out to the whole family. I love your family!

Sissy was like a second mom to me. I spent a lot if time in her home and she treated me like one of her own children. Even took me on vacation with them. She was truly a wonderful, warm and compassionate woman with so much love in her heart. I will miss her tremendously.
