It is of great sadness that we announce the passing of Olivia Montalvo Hidalgo on December 6th, 2024. Olivia was born in San Antonio, Texas on January 3rd, 1936.

Olivia's family moved to Richgrove, California where she attended elementary school and Delano High School. Olivia made many friends and this is where she would meet her future husband.

Olivia married Jose Hidalgo on April 14th, 1956. Their marriage was filled with adventure and travel. As the spouse of an enlisted Air Force member, Olivia lived in Reno, NV, San Bernardino, CA (Vicki's birthplace), San Antonio, TX (Joe and Larry's birthplace), Rammstein, Germany (Lisa's birthplace), and Vandenberg Air Force Base, CA.

Olivia was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. One of her favorite holidays was Thanksgiving, she would prepare a delicious feast and set the table with the china she brought back from Germany. She loved listening to Mexican music, especially Freddy Fender and dancing with her husband.

Olivia is preceded in death by her parents Rudy and Irene Montalvo, husband Jose Hidalgo, and daughter Lisa Hidalgo.

The family would like to thank Lisa and Rocky with A&A Home Care for their exceptional care of Olivia. Also, a thank you to Bristol Hospice Staff for their support through this difficult time.

Olivia is survived by daughter Vicki and Al Leff, son Joe Hidalgo, daughter-in-law Roxana Hidalgo, son Larry and Rosanne Hidalgo, sisters Pearl Gil and Viola Biggers, brothers Homer Montalvo and Ernie Montalvo, 13 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.

Viewing will be held on Monday, December 30th, 2024 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Basham Funeral Care, 3312 Niles Street Bakersfield, CA 93306. A prayer service will be held at Basham at 1:00 pm. Graveside service will follow the prayer service at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Bakersfield, CA 93306.

Reception at Agave Restaurant 250 Oak Street, Bakersfield CA will follow cemetery service.
