I have known Olivia since our beginning years at Dunbar School and I have always admired Olivia....it seemed that she was that older sister I did not have. Actually she was not that much older, only 9 months older, but I listened to her as an expert on how to navigate life--even then. I will so miss our periodic talks and her periodically lectures...kind, warm and intentional. I will certainly miss all that she was.

Ms. Smith and I shared a number of things. We are both January babies. (1/16 and 1/31). We both love to be right and know things (hahaha...) of course she was right more than me, but I'm ok with that. We both love potato salad (minus the paprika (Ms. Smith). I will always call her Ms. Smith, even when she 'schooled' me on the history of Dunbar, and we were members of the Dunbar Coalition Board. Truly a remarkable woman. Love to the family.

Her beautiful smile and laugh. She was a joy that put a smile on my face and she will always have a place in my heart.

I did not know Olivia personally, but I can see how loved she was through Karen's eyes and her stories. I hope the family finds peace during this difficult time. You are in my prayers.

Going to a musical event at the Dunbar Pavillion with her & Karen.
Doing a road trip with Olivia & Karen to Karen´s cousin or niece´s wedding in LA.
My favorite story is from Karen´s dad´s funeral.
A tall handsome man held the door open for me there.
I later pointed him out, saying, How about him?, meaning as a cute date.
Karen replied that the man was her half brother Tony.
When we told the story to Olivia & Sonia, Olivia defended me & said I was trying to find someone for Karen.
Sonia laughed & said Karen wasn´t desperate enough to date her half brother!
