Opal West

Opal West, age 81, of New London died early Saturday, May 03, 2008 at the Rehabilitation and Nursing Center at Firlelands in New London. Mrs. West was born July 7, 1926 in Honaker, Kentucky, daughter of the late, Robert & Myrtie (Kidd) Lawson. She grew up in Betsy Lane, Kentucky and had lived in New London since 1959. Opal worked at Kent Sporting Goods in New London for 24 years, she retired in the late 1980's. She was a member of the New London Church of Christ. She liked to crochet and garden. Opal is survived by her son & daughter-n-law, Webster & Tami Sanders of Nova; 2 grandson, Keith and Chad Sanders; and 3 great granddaughters; 5 brothers, Robert Lawson of Arizona, Arnold Lawson of Kentucky, Boby Lawson of Michigan, Herschell Lawson of Michigan and Firrs Lawson of Kentucky; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mike West; 5 sisters, Birdie, Sue, Mabel, Maggie, and Verlie; and three brothers Willie, George, and Gene Lawson. Friends may call from 2-4 and from 7-9 Tuesday May 6, at Eastman Funeral Home 200 West main St. New London, where funeral services will be held 2 pm Wednesday May 7.
