Orpha Kratzer Obituary

RICHFIELD - Orpha E. Kratzer, 73, of Richfield, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2008, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Melody and Nelson Gingerich, with whom she was living.
She was born Sept. 3, 1934, in Buckwheat Valley, Snyder County, a daughter of the late Oscar and Emma (Goodling) Kauffman. On Nov. 6, 1952, she married Harold Kenneth Kratzer Sr., who preceded her on March 1, 2002.
Mrs. Kratzer was a loving mother and homemaker.
She was a member of Shekinah Mennonite Church, Middleburg, and spent 17 years with missions in Belize, Central America.
She enjoyed singing, reading and visiting people.
Surviving are seven children, Harold "Ken" Kratzer Jr. and his wife Rose Marie of Richfield, Dwight C. Kratzer and his wife Katie of Millersburg, Ohio, David Kratzer and his wife Martha of Belize, Central America, Ellen Kratzer of Richfield, Melody Gingerich and her husband Nelson of Richfield, Rosanna Martin and her husband Calvin of Richfield and Joy Gingerich and her husband Carl of Mountain View, Ark.; 31 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, James Kauffman and his wife Mary Louise of Kissimmee; five sisters, Cora Weaver of Mifflinburg, Nora Weaver and her husband Sam of Lewisburg, Mary Heimbach and her husband Pastor Albert of Selinsgrove, Charlotte Heimbach and her husband Oran of Selinsgrove and Evelyn Heimbach and her husband Clair of Selinsgrove; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her husband, was a son, Jonathan Kratzer.
The family will receive friends for the viewing from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Richfield Mennonite Church, Church Street, Richfield, where the funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday by Pastors Ray Byers, George Stoltzfus and Dave Beiler.
Burial will be in Richfield Union Cemetery, Richfield.
The family kindly requests no flowers and would ask your consideration for memorial gifts to the Cayo Deaf Institute located in Belize, Central America, in care of her son, Ken Kratzer, 14023 Route 35, Richfield, PA 17086.
The George P. Garman Funeral Homes Inc., 9366 Route 35, Mount Pleasant Mills, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
