Orrin Kline, Jr. Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 13, 2024.
Orrin Martin Kline, Jr, age 94, a lifelong Manassas resident died Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at Bridgewater Retirement Community, Bridgewater, VA. Orrin was born October 30, 1930 in Manassas, VA to Orrin M and Elva Ramey Kline at their home. Orrin had a younger brother, Donald Lester Kline.

Orrin graduated from Osbourn High School in Manassas. During this time he was active on the basketball team and in photography for the school.

Following high school, Orrin attended Bridgewater College, Bridgewater, VA. While a student there, he answered the call to serve in the United States Air Force. During his four years of service, he was exposed to many people, experiences, and locations which shaped the rest of his life. After his service, he returned to Bridgewater College and graduated in 1957.

Orrin married Jane Cox on October 16, 1955 in Harrisonburg, VA. After his graduation from Bridgewater College, they made their home in Manassas, where they raised their two daughters Karen and Martha. At this time, Orrin Jr joined his father in the family business in Manassas, Kline Memorials. It was during his career that he made many connections and friendships which enriched his life. He retired in 1990 when the business was sold to the current owner, Rick Burroughs. Even after retirement, his visits would be welcomed by those at the "shop".

One of his greatest passions was being a member of the Manassas Volunteer Fire Company. At the time of his death he was the longest running member, having served for 66 years.

Orrin was a lifelong member of the Manassas Church of the Brethren, where over the years he served in many capacities there. Orrin was most devoted to the managing of the church cemetery, Cannon Branch.

Orrin was a loving and dedicated family man, and a very loyal friend to many. Even with his accomplishments and experiences, he remained a very humble man. His presence, wisdom, laughter and stories will be missed by many.

Orrin was preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 years, Jane, and his brother Donald. He is survived by his daughters Karen Fleishman and husband John of Dayton, VA; Martha Allen and husband Rick of Warrenton, VA; three grandchildren Elizabeth F. Rhodes and husband Chad of Dayton, VA; Daniel M. Fleishman and wife Emily of Dayton, VA; Abigail Allen Cave and husband Cameron of Bridgewater, VA; five great granddaughters Ava, Quinn, and Mila Rhodes; Caroline and Olivia Fleishman. Also surviving are nieces Carolyn Cox Wilson of Harrisonburg, VA and Roberta Cox Shantz and husband Gordon also of Harrisonburg.

The family would like to thank Hannah Skinner and Sandy Northam for the love and care they provided to him in his home. We also thank the staff of the BRC Wellness Household for the love and care he received from them while in their care.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, from 11:00 a.m.- 12:00 p.m. at the Manassas Church of the Brethren, 10047 Nokesville Road, Manassas, Virginia. A funeral service will begin at 12:00 p.m.

Interment will immediately follow at 1:15 p.m. at Cannon Branch Cemetery in Manassas.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manassas Vol Fire Company, or Manassas Church of the Brethren Cannon Branch Cemetery Fund.
