Dear Anderson family, Phyllis is a friend of mine back in 1991 I was a student librarian at Meeker Junior High and it's been many years since but I'm pretty sure I met Orville in the library while I was shelving books or helping at the circulation desk. He was friendly and kind to me, just like Phyllis. I am very sorry for your loss of Mr Anderson and I hope your family is doing well and my heartfelt prayers of love and peace go out to all of the members of the Anderson family and my good friend Phyllis

Dear Anderson Family,

I hope you received my card and message regarding Coach Orv. Dave Covey has been keeping in touch about news articles and the Open House at your home. As you read in my card, Orv was one of the heros in my life. The definition of "hero" in the dictionary fits my feelings about Orv perfectly: "A man admired for his courage, fortitude, prowess, nobility, etc." I have added a photo of Orv from my South Kitsap senior annual.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Dear Mrs. Anderson,

I recently became aware of our loss.

Your husband was very important in my life.

I played basketball for South Kitsap

from 1960-62. Coach Anderson taught

us to believe in ourselves. He

preached that hard work and success

go together. He taught us to be accountable. These lessons were valuable on the basketball court as

well as in everyday life. I owed a

lot to Coach.

Coach Anderson was a special person

in my life.

Phyllis,

This past week since Orv's death, it has been a journey through time via phone calls, letters and e-mails about our Coach at South Kitsap. We only knew him as our Coach and mentor, yet the stories remembered were more about caring and values. It was such an advantage to have had a Coach like Orv, at a time when we young boys were learning about life and about themselves.

I look forward to today's Open House to meet all that have been a part of our Coach's life after us. We were the fortunate ones, meeting him when he was just out of college, 27 years old. Only 10 years older than his Seniors in 1959, yet he definitely was a Father-figure ....... with a little Big Brother thrown in.

We were just a brief few years in Orv's event filled life, but those years had a huge impact on his players the rest of our lives. We want to know more about his high school days at Lincoln, why he joined the Air Force out of high School, what he was like as a player at Seattle Pacific, was he as tough a Dad as Coach?

See you this afternoon. I have been given proxy by a few of Orv's "boys" who couldn't make it to speak on their behalf. But I think Orv would just shake his head at the thought of it!

It was with a great sadness to have heard about Orv's death just one week ago. It was just three weeks ago today that Hilary was Married to Luke. It was a beautiful evening and Orv so proudly walked Hilary down the aisle. Later I sat with him and visited at the reception table. We talked about how exceptional the four children are and how fortunate he and Phyllis were to have them. He loved the grandchildren and enjoyed seeing them develop. How true that he enjoyed helping others with projects. I was on that list.

My deepest sympathy and thoughts to the family.
